LOL! I know!! I have never seen so many pro-amnesty FREEPERS at once! I have seen a few get the zot for trying to push such liberal policies....but wow, this takes the cake...

What happened to the days when he had our values lined up and took each candidate and compared and the best one to match was the one we supported?..Now, instead we are picking our person first and changing OUR values to match their liberal mindset. And down goes the nation.

Perry’s right.. we should however set up about a two mile wide DMZ, razor wire ans shoot anything coming across.

##

Right, but it should include a mine field as well. We have kept illegal aliens out of South Korea for more than 50 years. We can keep them out of the US as well.

Exactly. Mostly it’s people living in Idaho or Colorado or such, that complain about how we’re not keeping Mexicans away from their states. They never consider how much Texas has been impacted by this — no, they must think we’re just waving them across.

Thank you for posting that information. I’ve read this before but wasn’t sure if I would state it correctly. Another poster already mentioned the problem with terrain and geography.

2000 miles of unmanned fence in the middle of nowhere where no Mexican would dare to cross anyway or meet certain death is not the answer. You’re right. Perry is a smart man. Some people just refuse to listen.

>>We don’t need a freaking WALL.

We just need to do what most countries do:

If you’re illegal, you cannot get schooling or non-emergency medical care.<<

Rick Perry:

As a compassionate state, we know that for our children to succeed, they must not only be healthy, but educated.

The future leaders of our two nations are learning their fractions and their ABC’s in classrooms all along this border. Immigrants from around the world are being taught in Texas classrooms, and our history is rich with examples of new citizens who have made great contributions.

We must say to everyTexas child learning in a Texas classroom, “we don’t care where you come from, but where you are going, and we are going to do everything we can to help you get there.” And that vision must include the children of undocumented workers.

That’s why Texas took the national lead in allowing such deserving young minds to attend a Texas college at a resident rate. Those young minds are a part of a new generation of leaders, the doors of higher education must be open to them. The message is simple: educacion es el futuro, y si se puede.

WHY are they coming here illegally? Fix that and you don't need a fence.

Maybe get rid of income taxes, FICA and minimum wage so that the illegals have to compete on a level playing field? Oh, and start treating 'illegal' like 'criminal'.

Border Patrol are feds. They are funded by feds. That’s entirely the point. Texas has 64% of the border and receives only 20% of the funding. Why? 1) Obama hates Texas? or 2) 80% of the Texas/Mexican border is in the middle of nowhere and approximately .0000000001% of illegals cross in these areas so the money is spent where the border walls are CURRENTLY BUILT or 3) Texas does a better job per border mile of stopping illegal immigrants than any other border state. Take your pick. They are all true, and NONE OF THEM are Perry’s fault. He is for secure borders. Always has. Always will.

Jedidah is right. to build a fence along the river you’d have to build it on the US side, cutting ranchers off from water. It’s not workable.

I have ridden on the San Felipe Ranch of 25,000 acres along the Rio Grande, it’s very arid and they need that water badly. also I know someone who leases acreage near Eagle Pass, and their grazing land is fed by a canal from the Rio Grande.

These people are also threatened daily almost by thuggish illegals coming across. they lose calves and lambs to illegals who kill and eat them.

A combination of enforcement of the labor laws, checking ID, and a lot more Border Patrol would be a better start.

California provides a TON of innovation in the marketplace, novel products, and metric tons of food.

California is a mess because of liberal governance and illegal residents - but it has wonderful weather, a wealth of natural resources, and numerous innovative businesses (I work for one) that have not (yet) been driven out of the State due to the anti-business climate.

The U.S.A. would be much the poorer for its loss of California.

Which State was the first to elect that ideological fire brand Ronald Reagan? What State does Free Republic come from?

The will of the federal government. It’s their Constitutional obligation. Not the states.

but I am against either a wall or a fence for technical reasons and because of the expense.

It's the law. And its practical. When you consider that the majority of the illegals come through via trucks, a fence makes awesomely good sense.

Watch the video at Post 51 of illegals jumping the fence like jackrabbits and blow-torching through the Fence. It makes no sense at all.

So, the U.S. Government builds the Fence for $3 Billion to keep trucks from driving though. How could you possibly counteract that?

It's not Rocket Science.

Truck ride to Raul's Ladder Rental's secret crossing point on Mexican side: 1,250 Pesos

Raul's ladder rental fee: 500 Pesos

Ladder Assistant to help women over the Fence: Complementary (Raul is a gentleman)

Truck ride pick up at secret crossing point on the U.S. side by Raul's cousin Roberto: 500 Dollars

Laughing at the end of the day over a few Coronas at how easy it was to defeat a $3 Billion Fence: Priceless.

Thepatriot1's suggestion (See Post 62), now that makes sense.

Motion sensors. Now there’s a good idea. Let’s have our skeleton crew of border agents run to every motion sensor and see the deer...the bobcats...the wild hogs...and maybe the occasional footprint of an illegal alien that just cut his way through the wire (or went over) and is now long gone up the interstate.

The majority of the American people want a border fence. To categorically announce, (on MSNBC no less), that a border wall is "ridiculous" is a mistake.

As others have asserted, we are the people that put men on the moon. Various types of "wall" could be put up, even in the Rio Grande and Big Bend areas.

Get 100 security firms, the geeks at NASA, NSA, MIT, the construction guys, and build a continuous physical/virtual fence/wall. It can't be done? I beg to differ. Deterrance is the key here. How many people venture on to Area 51?

And yes, the cost is a pittance of what we spend on legal, law enforcement and social services for illegals. And yes, enforce the current laws on the books.
