Bachmann Warns Beware Soviet Union

(NewsCore) - COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Minnesota congresswoman and 2012 presidential candidate Michele Bachmann left some listeners scratching their heads Thursday when she said during a radio show interview that the US was in danger of being eclipsed by the Soviet Union.

Bachmann made the remark during an appearance on the Jay Sekulow radio show while campaigning in South Carolina.

"It really is about jobs and the economy," Bachmann said when asked what was on the minds of American voters she met on the trail.

"But what people recognize is that there's a fear that the United States is in an unstoppable decline. They see the rise of China, the rise of India, the rise of the Soviet Union and our loss militarily going forward."

The Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991 at the end of the Cold War.

Huh? The Soviet Union. Michele, please don’t implode so fast.
You are making me dizzy. LOL

Big deal. I still equate the USSR with Russia and sometimes call it the USSR.

Yes, but you're not running for president of the United States. I can forgive you for old habits, but a presidential contender? I don't think so.

I'm beginning to see why this congresswoman hasn't gotten any major legislation passed, nor has she held any leadership position while in office.

“Its a two person race, Perry and Romney. All the others are just filler.”

Two Rinos like Mitt ‘n Rick? Sure it is. The GOP is 72% very conservative and you think you can make it a two person race because the Establishment tell you that is what it is.

“I got to be honest with myself and others. Palin is no different than Bachmann, a light weight. They are female Sean Hannitys.”

Be honest with yourself at DU. This is a Conservative forum. Your post is very light on weight, facts and syntax.

How come FReepers are so quick to criticize without thinking?

We ARE thinking. It's Michelle who's not thinking before she speaks. This is her sixth or seventh major gaffe lately. Only a fool or a monkey would ignore that.

Palin is no different than Bachmann, a light weight.

Seriously...where'd you get that talking point -- Chris Matthews or Ed Schultz?

Light weight, huh? Read some of Governor Palin's many articles or opinion pieces on current events, and come back and say that. It's a complete fiction, and a rotten slander.

All I know is that I cannot afford another four years of Obama, so I am in it to win it. If you want to be cult like in your choices, go ahead, I just hope there is just a few of you. In my opinion Perry and Romney have the chops to win this race, while the others do not. I'm not interested in feeling all ideologically high and mighty and losing. They have a name for someone like that, a Loser. I was an athlete when younger, and I played to win. I just implore my fellow Conservatives to also play to win, its just that important at this time of our history.

Moderates play not to lose and end up losing anyway! The list of those Republicans who ran as conservatives and won in the modern political era is 100%, those who ran as “honorable, above the fray” and moderately lost. So your analogy of Romney doesn’t work and Perry somewhat

I hate to tell you, but some RINO took over your screen name.

Cheers!

“I’m not interested in feeling all ideologically high and mighty and losing. They have a name for someone like that, a Loser”

No. The name we conservatives have for that is “Reagan”. Educate yourself about what he did in 1976 and 1980 against the odds when everyone, and I mean everyone, called him a sure landlside loser.

“I was an athlete when younger, and I played to win. I just implore my fellow Conservatives to also play to win, its just that important at this time of our history.”

You play to lose. In fact you have already conceded the game. A choice between Mitt Romney and Obama is no choice at all. Ditto Rick “Gardasil” Perry. You are part of the problem. We had people like you telling us McCain was electable. You are so afraid of standing for something that you wind up falling for anything. And the thing that infuriates me is people you always trash the conservatives like Palin, Bachmann and O’Donnell, calling them lightweights. In Palin’s case, this is a ridiculous and ignorant assertion, which you cannot back up except with misogynistic intuition.

It is my opinion that Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann are not political giants. I agree with both of them, but they do not have the political ability to win the Presidency. They will lose, thus we all lose. I am not interested in losing, for any reason. There is nothing wrong with being a light weight, I am a light weight myself. I could not win either. Maybe I am nostalgic for the smoke filled room. Where pros picked candidates by their ability.

I still predict a Civil war is coming. Will end both parties at this rate. Neither are doing the right things. Republicans caving into Obama with that deal a few weeks back. I can’t trust anyone. I know hwo I like. If others won’t agree so be it. But a Rick Perry or Mitt Romney isn’t going to fix nothing. We’ll see what they will do, but can’t trust ‘em.

Another gaffe. BFD.

What matters is the direction of her compass. If it’s off by a few #ing degrees, I don’t give a shit.

I dare any FReeper to put your mouth on the line 24/7, and not make the occasional ass of yourself.

Correction: Er I know who I like. I like Bachmann, Palin (maybe), possibly Paul Ryan, and Cain. Hell I’ll take McCotter over Perry.

Sometimes winning is still losing. We pick the wrong candidate this time, we all lose. There is no more time for taking a RINO's slow train to the same damn destination. Character and philosophy are ALL that matter to me this time around.

And about BHO electability come November..., I firmly believe that even I could beat him. The whole country will be screaming "anyone but Obama". That man is imploding before our very eyes.

Friend, all I can say is, you've got some serious misperceptions about Sarah Palin.

Perhaps you've bought the left-wing talking points about her, and have never taken the time to honestly review her twenty year record of accomplishment, nor read any of her speeches and articles. You certainly couldn't have read either of her books, if that's your opinion of her.

Let me ask you this: if Palin is such a lightweight, why does she enjoy such overwhelming support among well-informed conservatives, and why is she so relentlessly attacked by the left-wing establishment?

If she's such a lightweight, how on earth did she ever win election to the Alaska Governorship, and why did she hold the highest approval rating of any Governor of the fifty states?

If she's a lightweight, you've got to ask yourself - why there is so much speculation about her possibly running for the nomination?

Lightweights do not achieve such things, my friend.

Anybody here think that when Putin returns to power in a few months, he won’t attempt to reconstitute the Soviet Union?

Putin's a Tsarist and not a Communist. He's going for Imperial Russia and NOT the Soviet Union.

Check the Romanov trappings and regalia with which he surrounds himself:

And Communists don't embrace the Orthodox faith like he has...

Two RINOs...it figures. Republican first and Conservative a distant second.
