Republicans Decry DHS Deportation Review as 'Amnesty'
FoxNews.com ^ | August 19, 2011

Republicans accused the Obama administration of instituting "backdoor amnesty" after officials announced they would launch a case-by-case review of illegal immigrants slated for deportation in an effort to thin the list and focus resources on kicking out criminals.

The move would likely grant a reprieve to many would-be DREAM Act beneficiaries and thousands of others. The DREAM Act is a proposal in Congress to give illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children a chance at legal status if they complete two years of college or military service. Though the bill has not passed, Thursday's announcement could serve to carry out its provisions.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, one of the president's toughest critics on border policy, said the move amounts to the administration implementing an immigration overhaul "via executive fiat."

"This plan amounts to backdoor amnesty for hundreds of thousands -- if not millions -- of illegal aliens," the Republican governor said in a written statement. "We need to remind President Obama that we elected a president that serves beneath the law and did not anoint a king that is above the law."

Texas Republican Rep. Michael McCaul said the plan circumvents Congress.

"It is just the latest attempt by this president to bypass the intended legislative process when he does not get his way," McCaul said.

The bad word here is not merely "Amnesty" but actually "Lawlessness."

This is by far the most lawless administration ever -- ignoring at will laws that are on the books (DOMA), pretending court decisions striking down certain laws never happened (ObamaCare individual mandate), and now... imagine it... enforcing laws that are NOT on the books.

I am struggling to understand why not a single article of impeachment has been offered for this dictator-in-waiting, when so many examples of his complete disregard for the rule of law in our Constitutional system abound.

Moreover the spineless squishes that pass for Republicans these days are as much to blame because they permit it and do not really resist it, aside from hurtling a few useless epithets like "Amnesty" around.

The current occupier of the Oval Office is a complete rogue, in every sense of that word (look it up!).

It's time they work to remove him from office. You can't ignore serious, permanent damage to the Constitution just for the sake of avoiding media criticism in an election cycle.

It is dead serious, the stuff Obama gets away with. A Republican doing the same things would be hung from a lamppost by his testicles by now.

I'm not advocating that for Obama, but I would like to see him escorted out of the White House in the shame he deserves. That might give me "hope" of serious "change" in DC. Otherwise, it's all a waste of breath, and our children and their children will suffer the most for it.

Amnesty? Like hell it is. It's treason. I'll care about what Repubs have to say when someone in their party grows a spine, and initiates impeachment proceedings leading to removal from office. Our republic's contintued existence depends upon it. Do your jobs, and earn your pay cheques, boys!

Where was the GOP during the Bush-Clinton years when tens of millions of these illegal aliens came flooding in here in the first place? Quietly holding the gates open while looking the other way, that's where.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.” - Cicero

That Cicero quote is golden. I think people were, on the whole, a lot smarter many centuries ago than they are today. So much for ‘progress.’

And a lot of them were working against those of us trying to do something about illegal immigration. Jack Kemp, Bill Bennett, William Kristol, Linda Chavez, Ron Unz were among those who fought against Prop 187. And Dubya tried repeatedly to force amnesty on the country.

Imagine getting away with this when unemployment among American citizens is out of control?

The illegal next door to you is a criminal non-citizen. They are telling you in no uncertain terms: “He is special and protected, you are not, don’t dare complain. We are taking this country from you and giving it to him”.

And we are stupid enough to take it.

IMHO the part that he is explicitly violating is:

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States"...

There's nothing faithful about what he is doing. Rather, intentionally subverting the Constitution as Obama is doing is the precise opposite of "faithfully executing" his duties.
