Last August, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus revoked a Silver Star medal formerly held by retired Navy Captain Wade R. Sanders. In a short, vague memorandum to the Chief of Naval Personnel, Mabus cited "subsequently determined facts and evidence surrounding both the incident for which the award was made and the processing of the award itself" as the reason. Such an action by the Navy is virtually without precedent.
There was no press release and no announcement. Eleven months later, a bare-bones report was finally published by the Navy Times. American Thinker picked up the story from WinterSoldier.com, and after Matt Drudge followed suit, it propagated rapidly.

Kerry Wars ping....
bump.
This is wonderful.
These cowards who do this are an insult to the true warriors.
I have ZERO doubt Kerry’s medals are fraudulent as well and hope this gets pursued.
Now, someone needs to review Kerry’s 3 Purple Hearts - at least the one where some rice got embedded in his ass.
This is the attack dog who went after Jeri Corsi and John O’Neill...
They should come out with a follow up book about this clown.
BTTT
If it got embedded in his ass, I'm surprised that some wasn't embedded in his head as well.
Thanx for this - gave some bucks back then to the Swiftboat dudes for Truth and glad to see it did some good.
Sanders is a POS and should be branded as such...typical Kerry pal...
Well, he had a role model to follow
That's been done. See "Unfit for Command," and also An Incident on the Bay Hap River
I am still waiting to see Kerry’s F-180.
He claims he signed it, but no one ever got to see it.
He was in Vietnam for 4 months total , got 3 purple hearts and never missed a day’s work.
3 purle hearts got you a trip home and the rumor is he was told by fellow officers to make the request or he may go home in a body bag
Truth of fiction , he grabbed his “magic hat” and hauled ass back home in time to toss someone else’s medals, and to help Jane Fonda and to meet N Vietnam representatives in France.
Instead of being a convicted war criminal for shooting an unarmed wounded prisoner and for being a treasonous traitor he is a United States Senator today.
Of course they are~!IIRC in the book the swift boat vets put out most of his were got after he became commanding officer on his boat and filed for all of them himself. He knew 3 Purple hearts and you were out....
I have the impression Kerry wouldn’t have ANY friends or connections except the ones his wife’s money can buy for him
You have personally reached back in time to give them a voice in the more advanced technology age and helped them tell their story. As I've said before if the world were a just place you would have trophies on your wall. As it is you'll just have to settle for Freeper Kudos. We're blessed that you seem to feel that's enough.
Keep up the great work!
Semper Fi,
TS
He probably figured it out after he inadvertently blasted a rice grain into his buttocks.
Kerry is a COWARD.

Make you wonder where the hearts of voters in Massachusetts “IS”... What motivates THEM..
Its like the whole state is populated by marginal people..
i.e. Ed Kennedy, Kerry, Barney Frank, Ed Markey, Robert Reich, Myth Romney, Meehan, and Delahunt..
Also, let's not forget who, in his group, supported him during the elections:

And the whole deal with the personal home movies that he was having someone film for him (a la JFK).
Too good! Kerry’s main defender now receiving the “Stolen Valor” award.
There are lots of questions about JFnK’s self-awarded Bronze Star, Silver Star and three Purple Hearts, as well.
Lincoln said you can fool some of the people all of the time, I suppose the people of Massachusetts are who he had in mind.
The rice in the tush incident doesn’t even qualify for a PH. It was “friendly fire”, actually self inflicted, that did not occur during an engagement with the enemy. A wound that is the result of friendly fire is only eligible for a PH if it is the result of misdirected fire during a hostile engagement. If two (otherwise) friendly units exchange fire, no PH should be awarded. (Stonewall Jackson would not be eligible for a PH under this rule.) An individual injured by misdirected friendly fire during a hostile engagement is elgible.
Self inflicted wounds are specifically excluded. If you shoot yourself during an engagement, you might get a trip to the hospital, but no PH. If you deliberately injure yourself, regardless of circumstances, you are eligible for a court-martial.
PS: John Kerry’s wounds were paper cuts, the kind of incidental injuries generally not even attended to by a medic or documented in a service members medical records. In one incident, the medic handed him a band-aid in the infirmary, and Kerry made him enter the “injury” in his medical records. Ground combat, even without any injuries inflicted by hostile fire, is lot like a football game. Participants receive a number of bruises and cuts from activities that have nothing to do with hostile fire. Most soldiers never even sought treatment for minor shrapnel wounds.
Scott Swett, a true American hero.
LOL... could be so... they killed him because he vetoed a central banking scheme..
I’d read some of this at the time, but thanks for digging down for the complete story. I don’t know one Vietnam era Vet that doesn’t think Kerry is a self-serving asshole. Started back then and continues today. Just breaks my heart when I go to the VA hospital and see all the damage; these are the real heroes.
Kerry: Hey Doc...can you check out these rice wounds on my ass?
Pathetic. No Shame.
Well, no, although I appreciate the sentiment.
Nobody was shooting at me while I wrote the article. I would have noticed.
not holding my breath, but you’re absolutely correct.
Hey Hey Ho Ho = Solicitation call for ladies of the evening at Tan Son Nhut.
Was John Kerry in Vietnam?
I know you!!! LOL
You number one, GI
I doubt it. If he was, don't you think he would have mentioned it?
Commander McBragg was in many places. In his mind.
This is an excellent article. Thanks!
I happen to catch an old TV talk show from the 70’s one time when flipping the channels recently. Low and behold a young man looking like lerch came on as a guest. It was John Kerry. He had just returned from Vietman. I thought how stange his attitude was. Coming back from Vietnam and craping on the U.S. Military with the likes of which would have made Jane Fonda proud. This man is not an american patriot. He is a socialist fraud the likes of which have infested the democrat party. We must du everything in our power to defeat these frauds in 2012 and boot their commie rear ends all the way to cuba.
A patriot, you.....a pinhead, Lurch!
Freep On!
Leni
If there was a Silver Star, there has to be a citition. I’ve been everywhere and haven’t found it.
it was originally reported as an upgrade for his Bronze Star.
I haven’t been able to find his Bronze Star citation either.
I guess he gets to keep the Bronze ?
Ah..so he was in a position to fake the docs..instead of just lie abouut his heroism...
The Navy should correct the way it keeps its records .
No surprise this was one of Kerry’s biggest supporters.
Thank you. I think it has a significant portion of the inside story.
The citation the Navy provided in response to a FOIA request is linked in the article.
That seems to have been for a separate incident. No action was taken on Sanders' Bronze Star.
HOLY CRAP. Thanks alot ! next time I’ll read the whole story.
During the phoney skerry’s run for the WH the phoney Sanders and I exchanged some rather heated emails when I called BS on lurches purple hearts. He was persistent in his criticism of me....then when I saw years later he was going to prison for being a child predator I looked up his email address from those nasty ones he sent me. Needless to say I doubt he relished reviving my email....the boy never replied...and now this. The sorry bastard, like his buddy skerry don’t have an honest bone in his body. My hope is that the boys in prison have him bent over and when he gets out he has an anus large enough for a gerbil to do laps.
I operated as boat support for three SEAL platoons and one UDT detachment based at Nam Can on the Cau Lon River as part of operation SEA FLOAT (afloat) and later SOLID ANCHOR after we moved ashore. Nam Can was on the north bank of the Cau Lon River. I've been on the Bay Hap River, Cau Lon River, Bo De River, and Dam Doi River about a year after Kerry was there. These were spooky places, even in daylight. Fortunately, our group operations were done on solid tactical intelligence gathered by the SEALs (and their Vietnamese LDNN counterparts).
By the time our detachment arrived, the tactics had shifted away from the PCF incursions with troops embarked. The “heavies” — former MRF boats — were better suited for inserting or extracting infantry. There were a lot of airborne operations staged from both SEA FLOAT and SOLID ANCHOR. [We moved ashore (SA) from the Ammi pontoons moored in the middle of the Cau Lon River (SF)on 5 September 1970.]
Nevertheless, SF/SA was probably one of the “hottest” operational areas in all of the Delta. There were several firefights between the American Patrol Gunboats (PG) that guarded the approaches to SF. USS CANON (PG-90) was ambushed on the Cau Lon while returning to SF after conducting harassment and interdiction (H&I) fire off the mouth of the Bo De River and half her crew of 24 were wounded and three were medevaced, including the captain.
USS KRISHNA (ARL-38) was mined when she came upriver to service the boats at SF/SA. One PCF sailor was killed and KRISHNA had to steam to Saigon for repairs in dry dock.
The VNN landing ship support, large (LSSL) HQ-225 was mined and sunk in a nighttime sapper attack at SF. Back broken, HQ-225 rolled over and sank in less than five minutes with the loss of 28 lives; the hulk remains there to this day.
A sapper attack with water mines on our ex-MRF boats sank two and heavily damaged two others at SOLID ANCHOR. All of this and more happened during our temporary duty tour from May to November 1970. SEA FLOAT/SOLID ANCHOR was like Ft. Apache because it was smack in the midst of Indian country with a 50 kilometer diameter, 360 degree Free Fire Zone.
Thanks for your service and the ability to tell your story.
double holy crap. this is the most info i’ve seen on sanders SS.
thanks again.
