Comet Elenin, supposedly discovered by Leonid Elenin on Dec 10, 2010.

I have a hard time believing the story of its discovery for a very simple reason.

The description of a newly discovered object coming in on a long-period orbit around the Sun would include 2 factors:

FACTOR 1. The direction FROM which it is coming.
FACTOR 2. The DATE of its perihelion, or closest point to the Sun.

Comet Elenin is coming FROM LEO and has PERIHELION DATE of September 11, 2011.
NOTE: The ORIGINAL date, when announced, and as seen on NASA JPL animation tools, was Sept 11
It has been CHANGED (on Wikipedia.org, an editable-by-anyone site) to Sept 10.
Now, I can find lots of NASA and other stories claiming it is not a danger, but NO mention of the Perihelion date. Curious.

Leonid Elenin is the discoverer.

His FIRST NAME (Leonid) indicates FACTOR 1.
Comet Elenin is coming from the direction of the LEO constellation.
The Leonid meteor shower comes from the direction of LEO -> LEONID (FIRST NAME).

His LAST NAME (Elenin) indicates an acronym for the European-style DATE or FACTOR 2.
European dates are day/month, 11/9 is Sept 11th.
The acronym is ELEven NINe -> ELENIN (LAST NAME).

This story of the discovery of this object is a LIE.
Leonid Elenin is NOT a REAL PERSON.
So what IS the TRUTH?

Yeah, you're so smart that you can't go to the NASA link you posted about Elenin, look up their charts of Elenin's orbit, and realize that perihelion is NOT on 9-11. Instead, you stumble across that factoid on some whacked-out conspiracy site and run with it without validating it first.

Ah, that's right, NASA is lying to us, so it can't be validated, which makes it a conspiracy.
