2 1/2 percent? I didn’t think it was that high.
Various studies have been done trying to determine the actual number of homosexuals in the population. It’s hard to accurately determine for a number of reasons; one is homosexuals are not evenly distributed all over the country, but even more this one - many homosexuals change and give up the “gay” life. The figures I’ve seen (I’ll try to look ‘em up) range between 1.5% to 2 point something percent.
The article says that homosexual men are 2% of the population but this is not so at all, since homosexuals both men and women are around (roughly) 2% of the population, so just men would make it around 1% of the total population.
(I’m NOT good at math so someone correct me if I’m wrong.)
I am sure that if the CDC original figures are looked at, they will also show that bisexuals, prostitutes and IV drug users account for almost all the other HIV infections, and many of them are downstream from the “MSM”/men who have sex with men category.
So if the homosexuals aka “Men who have sex with men” stopped doing what they do, HIV rates for all the “downstream” categories would diminish greatly.
