Left still telling the same old lies even as their strongest supporters are hardest hit by unemployment
Texas Governor Rick Perry’s jobs record in Texas received help from an unlikely source on Wednesday, the Federal Reserve. Perry made headlines recently in his campaign for saying the Federal Reserve’s practice of printing more dollars was “almost treasonous” and that type of action would be treated “pretty ugly” in Texas.
Liberals lost their minds....again.
Since talk of Perry entering the GOP field of candidates for the presidential nomination began, liberals have taken the position of begrudgingly admitting that Perry had indeed created all the jobs Perry claims to have created in his tenure as Governor of Texas. However, the liberals have been quick to add that the jobs were all low paying, or some said, minimum wage jobs.
Ever the left’s attack dog, U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett, of Austin, called Perry “a false prophet.” Simultaneously poking Perry's Christianity in they eye and quoting from the Democrat Bible of lie and deny, Doggett said, “Many of those (jobs) have been those low-wage (jobs), not living-wage jobs.”
Doggett made his comments on Friday during a conference call with reporters that was organized by the South Carolina Democratic Party to coincide with Perry’s visit to the Palmetto State.
“He has no plan, except to do less,” Doggett said referring to Perry's Reaganesque stance for smaller government, less regulation and Perry’s vow that he will work, “…to try to make DC as inconsequential in your life as I can."
A fearsome thought for nanny-state liberals like Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Lloyd Doggett.
The problem for the left is their claim of “low-wage jobs, not living-wage jobs” is a lie.
Don't take Perry's word for it. Ask the Fed. A wholly non-partisan entity that shouldn’t be too happy with Perry right now says Doggett, everyone on the left, and the Democrat talking points are completely wrong.
Richard Fisher, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas said on Wednesday that Texas has in fact created good paying jobs.
“…these jobs are not low-paying jobs. The average weekly wage in the education and health services sector is $790; in the professional and business services sector it is $1,117; and in the mining sector, the average weekly wage is $2,271. Together these three sectors account for 68 percent of the jobs that have been created in Texas in the past two years,” Fisher said.
Critics also say that Texas only offers oil industry jobs. Not so, says Fisher.
“The most jobs have been created in the educational and health services sector, which accounts for 13.5 percent of Texas’ employment. The second-most jobs have been created in the professional and business services sector, which accounts for 12.5 percent of the Texas workforce. The mining sector, which includes support activities for both mining and oil and gas, employs 2.1 percent (yes, two-point-one percent) of Texas’ workers,” Fisher said.
Liberals have not simply played with the numbers, they’ve just outright lied.
“These are the facts. You may select whichever metric you wish. Regardless, it is reasonable to assume Texas has accounted for a significant amount of the nation’s employment growth both over the past 20 years and since the recession officially ended,” said Fisher. “…people and businesses have been picking up stakes and moving to Texas in significant numbers over a prolonged period… And yet Texas, like all states, is subject to the same monetary policy as all the rest… From this, I draw the conclusion that private sector capital and jobs will go to where taxes and spending and regulatory policy are most conducive to growth.”
Fisher also offered some advice for Washington DC, “The Committee of 12 and the president have an awesome task. Essentially, they must reboot our entire system of economic incentives and come forward with an updated tax and spending and regulatory regime that incentivizes businesses to invest in the United States and create jobs for American workers rather than gravitate to foreign shores.”
In other words, do it like Texas.
The Federal Reserve will keep the facts out there. Fisher announced, “The Dallas Fed will henceforth be providing monthly updates on employment in Texas through our website at www.dallasfed.org. We hope it will be a useful tool for everyone ranging from columnists who write for the New York Times to the pundits who provide commentary for Fox News, as well as serious economists.”
It looks like the liberals will have to continue to lie in the face of facts or revert to the notion they floated recently that since Texas is a part of the United States, it was actually Barack Obama’s economic policy that created all those jobs, not Perry. Although that theory doesn’t explain what’s going wrong in the rest of the nation.
Did anyone buy that one?
New jobless numbers rose above 400,000 again this week. 15,000,000 Americans are out of work. The unemployment rate among African-Americans is nearly 16% and for Hispanics it is 11.3%.
Jobs are crucial to the survival of our people and to the recovery of our economy, yet even when the core constituency of the Democrat party is hardest hit by unemployment, the Democrats continue to play politics with jobs rather than look for real solutions.
The left not only refuses to admit that what is happening in Texas actually works, they refuse to learn from the Perry created “Texas Model” of job creation, because it is more important to the Democrats to say that a Republican like Perry is wrong than it is to try and create jobs for you.
President Obama can't be bothered with jobs creation today. He is on vacation. But he plans to give the ninth "major jobs speech" of his presidency sometime next month.
That should come as little comfort to Americans desperate for work today.
Rick Perry:
FIRST: "Don't spend all the money!"
SECOND: "Have a fair and predictable tax and regulatory policy!"
THIRD: "Have a legal system that doesn't allow for over suing and make loser pay!"
I don’t have real strong feelings on this either way, but the pay scale for jobs that exist in any given location are a function of the nature of industry, local labor supply, availability of alternative jobs, and many more factors. All the Governor can do - or help to do - is to create a tax and regulatory structure that encourages businesses to locate there and hire people.
Blaming the Governor for the pay level simply shows the stupidity of the blamer.
This is hysterical. Perry’s camp should be reminding us of all the crowing the libdems did when Mickey-d’s added some 60,000 jobs a couple of months ago.
In doing so, Perry, governor of Texas, picked up a key endorsement from Florence physician Eddie Floyd, one of the state’s most influential Republican fundraisers. Floyd introduced Perry at Carolinas Hospital Systems as "the next president of the United States."
......About 500 people crowded into Bazen’s Family Restuarant for Perry’s appearance in Florence.
Another 300 had to wait outside because of fire safety rules.
Perry worked the room at the restaurant, shaking hands, holding babies and autographing Bibles.
....Speaking later to a room full of doctors and nurses at Carolinas Hospital, Perry promised that if elected, he would on his first day in office sign an executive order to eliminate as much of Obama’s health care law as possible.

The new diatribe is that the jobs were minimum wage jobs.
My answer to that is..OK then dont take them.
Its supply and demand. If there is a shortage of labor, the wages will go up since the employers will compete for labor to do the work the employers need done. If there are more workers than Jobs, then the wages will be low since the employers will have more workers for fewer jobs driving the wages down.
The answer is easy. Get the government the hell out of the way to allow employer growth and create a labor job market.

They can call for more Obama-style government stimulus when that clearly has failed and belittle Texas’s job growth when that state’s policies clearly have succeeded. And the only way they can do that is to ignore clear facts. That is the hallmark of a liberal - re-write the truth so that it fits his preconceptions.

Had Obamacare not been rammed down our throats against the will of the people I would not like Perry using an executive order to demolish it, that would be an abuse of power. However, in this particular case, have at it Rick!

Further, Perry has a long record of accomplishment...Obama only has failure.
Perry will energize and inspire a new generation of patriots. Think back to why Ronald Reagan was successful - he inspired people.

Rick Perry for failing to take $830 million in federal money that Perry and other Republicans complained had strings attached but that Doggett says would have prevented “anti-education ‘smoke and mirrors’ budgeting” by the state.
In the latest round of the political feud over $830 million in federal funding, House Republicans, led by U.S. Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Lewisville, passed a bill Saturday that attempts to block the enforcement of the Texas-specific Education Jobs amendment.
The latest chapter in the feud between Gov. Rick Perry and Representative Lloyd Doggett over $830 million in federal money for education unfolded Tuesday, when, in his State of the State address, the governor called out a “certain Texas congressman” for singling out Texas “for punishment in pursuit of his own agenda.”
The dispute between Mr. Perry and Mr. Doggett, Democrat of Austin, began in August, when Congress passed legislation to give $10 billion in aid to allow states to hire and retain teachers. Tacked onto the law was a measure proposed by Mr. Doggett and supported by other Democrats — applicable only to Texas — that requires the governor to offer his assurance that the money will be used to “supplement and not supplant” state education financing through 2013.
Six months later, Texas is one of only two states that has not received money from the fund. Attorney General Greg Abbott filed a federal lawsuit against the Department of Education to claim the money — without complying with the Doggett provision — and the state’s Congressional delegation has split along party lines.

Texas will soon be receiving the $830 million in funds for public education that have been tied up in political wrangling.
U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan made the announcement Friday. Gov. Rick Perry said he welcomed the department's decision to approve the state's application for the funding.
The federal budget deal negotiated to avoid a government shutdown this month removed the strings U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett, a Democrat from Austin, had attached to the funds.
The bill removed a requirement that Perry, a Republican, use the funds to supplement existing school spending rather than just replace state funds in order to balance the budget.
