President Obama appealed to the patriotism of Congress as he urged members to act together to put people back to work.

The president is vacationing on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, but he recorded his weekly Saturday radio and Internet address earlier in the week while in Alpha, Ill., during an economy-focused Midwestern bus tour.

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek"-- BARACK OBAMA

"The Communist Party USA views the 2008 elections as a tremendous opportunity to defeat the policies of the right-wing Republicans and to move our country in a new progressive direction.

The record turnout in the Democratic Presidential primary races shows that millions of voters, including millions of new voters, are using this election to bring about real change. We wholeheartedly agree with them."

A Landslide Mandate For Change

A breakthrough election
Congratulations on an extraordinary history making election!

We can think back with pride to decades of hard work toward our strategic goal of a big enough, broad enough and united enough labor and all-people’s movement that could overcome the ultra-right blockage to all progress. That all people’s movement has come to life, it is dynamic and it has the potential to keep growing.

The election of Barack Obama and a strengthened Congress creates new conditions in our country. There is now the possibility to shift gears and move forward. This new day requires us to further develop our tactics in order to continue to deepen and broaden labor and people’s unity.

There are thousands of experiences that we all have had in these momentous days, some large, some small, all of which express the enormity of change in thinking and readiness for involvement that is underway and that steels us for the battles ahead.

The tears of joy we all shared as crowds gathered to watch the election results here and throughout the world dramatize the new moment we are in.

Change is Here, Change is Coming

Sam Webb, National Chair, Communist Party, USA:

Let me begin with a simple observation: If the last 30 years were an era of reaction, then the coming decade could turn into an era of reform, even radical reform. Six months into the Obama presidency, I would say without hesitation that the landscape, atmosphere, conversation, and agenda have strikingly changed compared to the previous eight years.

In this legislative session, we can envision winning a Medicare-like public option and then going further in the years ahead.

We can visualize passing tough regulatory reforms on the financial industry, which brought the economy to ruin.

We can imagine the troops coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan while U.S. representatives participate in a regional process that brings peace and stability to the entire region.

In the current political climate, the expansion of union rights becomes a real possibility.

Much the same can be said about winning a second stimulus bill, and we sure need one, given the still-rising rate, and likely long term persistence, of unemployment.

Isn’t it possible in the Obama era to create millions of green jobs in manufacturing and other sectors of the economy in tandem with an attack on global warming?

Can’t we envision taking new strides in the long journey for racial and gender equality in this new era, marked at its beginning by the election of the first African American to the presidency?

And isn’t the overhaul of the criminal justice and prison system – a system steeped in racism – no longer pie-in-the sky, but something that can be done in the foreseeable future?

All these things are within reach now!

The best thing for the economy, jobs, and markets would be for Congress to impeach, convict, and remove this POS.

Yes. And who could POSSIBLY question the patriotism of Barack Hussein Obama?

I chatted with a man who is running his own business and he told me he tried to hire someone with skills, but the candidate demanded twenty-five dollars and hour, plus full benefits. Employees are just too ridiculously expensive these days and Obamacare is just adding another huge burden to the mix.

Patriotism is the appeal to love one’s own country. And for many, this comes easily, as human beings are hard-wired to come to defense of that part of real estate upon which they reside, doing the things to which they are accustomed.

But there has been a surprising development over the past few decades, a strange double vision of things, in which the very same piece of real estate is viewed in two entirely distinct images. One is the so-called “blue” or what is come to be the “liberal” view, in which such things as life, liberty and pursuit of happiness are downplayed to the advantage of equality, fraternity and social justice. But only if you obey the rules, which is not to question the “benefits” being distributed.

The other is the “red” or what has come to be known as the more “conservative” faction, which resists micromanagement in every aspect of life, demands tht what is earned is to be retained in the control of the one who does the earning, and proceeds by a moral code that does not permit of licentious behavior, and is entwined with the porinciple of the Golden Rule: Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.

No such moral principle guides the more liberal thinkers, as they totally lack empathy, the ability to place themselves in the shoes of another, to live as that person does, to see the world as the other person sees it.

So the definition of “patriotism” is altogether dependent on which America you see.

So maybe Obama is, in some sense “patriotic”.

Just not patriotic to the same country in which I live.

Obama is right. The Congress should put aside politics and work to put people back to work.

The first thing they should do, is do away with the EPA and any other business killing regulations that Obama has placed into the way of good business.

They should declare open season on drilling for oil in the Gulf and in ANWR.

They should raise the tax on automobile parts imported from Mexico high enough to make it cheaper to produce them here.

They should make every state a right to work state.

These things would make a good start, and it should be done immediately if not sooner.
Of course if they did this in a non-partisan manner, Obama would be turned into a babbling idiot. Wait , He is that now, Lets just say he would soil his linen.

I’ve said and will continue to say the media has played a major part in the destruction of this country. It is an ardent activist and liar for the Demonrat party. For any challenger to 0bama it is going to take the acknowledgment that the media needs to be questioned and taken on just as much. That’s why I wanted Palin so much because she understood it, but what are we going to get with any of them? Good luck as this country is on the fast track downward. 0bama is just an ugly thing. The rhetoric he spews on a daily basis is just a mockery of the truth and knowing he has the media to insulate him and push his agenda and anything and everything that needs to be done to protect and bolster. The enemy within.

The one thing that is so bitterly ironic, is that Obama and the media (and their Hollywood allies) are going ot be the first ones to suffer the most if Russia or China becomes the new world superpower. Then, once Americans are faced with that, they will realize just how much work has to be put into rebuilding America’s status, which will end up with the media, entertainers, and other politically correct groups getting scapegoated since no one will be in an indulgent mood.
