Israel Air Force fighter jets eliminated a terrorist squad in northern Gaza late Saturday afternoon.
Military sources confirmed a direct hit on the terrorist cell, which had apparently just finished launching a mortar attack on southern Israel.
Israeli fighter pilots on Friday night attacked two terrorist tunnels, a weapons factory in southern Gaza and a terrorist training center as well. Direct hits were confirmed on all targets, and all IDF personnel returned safely to their bases.
“The IDF will not tolerate any attempts to harm Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers and will respond with determination to any attempt to use terror against the State of Israel,” said the IDF Spokesman in a statement.
“The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip.”
The Hamas rulers of Gaza took responsibility for a lethal barrage of Grad Katyusha missiles on the southern cities of Ofakim and Be'er Sheva Saturday night. One man died in the attacks, and numerous others were wounded, including a four-month-old baby and an eight-year-old girl.

It seems to me that the next time the IDF enters Gaza, it should emplace some special detonation charges along the most heavily tunneled routes that would make the ground semi permanently unstable to tunneling.
The fine art of sandhogging, or tunnel digging, is a lot harder than it might seem on the surface. Some types of ground are just not worth even trying to tunnel through, for lots of different reasons.
The way the Israelis would do this would be to take well digging equipment into Gaza, burrow down a hundred or more feet, and plant specialized charges, that could likely make tunneling very problematic in a large, 3D area around the detonation.
I checked and Gaza is only 136sq miles. With that said a couple dozen MOABs could take care of the terror problem for good.

In fact, I KNOW they did when Mubarak fell. What’s the REAL story behind this, because it sounds like propaganda....?

Bibi is great, if you like the idea of negotiating with people that want to kill you and possibly giving up more land for "peace." While he's obviously preferable to people like Rabin and Barak and Peres, for the citizens of Israel, he still leaves a lot to be desired. Sometimes I wonder what Israel would look like today if PM Sharon had not suffered that stroke.
PM Sharon forcibly evacuated Gush Katif and Northern Samaria, and nearly destroyed the Likud Party. He also permanently turned me off to the two-state solution.
I know that. Sharon made a race to the center with Kadima and sold out his long-held principles. That said, is Netanyahu really even close to perfect? Why can’t Israel have a prime minister who refuses to negotiate with people that won’t stop attacking his country? The Palestinians don’t want a deal. They want ALL of the LAND. The two-state solution is impossible. Even if 80% of the Palestinian people got on board with the idea, Hamas would never get on board with it, and they’d simply start firing rockets into the neighboring state, forcing Israel to retaliate. The two-state solution would dissolve approximately 1 day after implementation as Israel was forced to reoccupy land used by the terrorists to attack.

I went on a Birthright trip to Israel a couple of years ago. With you being in Israel, I'm sure you're familiar with the program. It was a 10-day trip and we had 5 members of the Israeli military with us for four of those days. They really opened my eyes to the stuff that you guys put up with every day. It's hard to imagine how tiny the State of Israel is until you actually go there. Traveling from the north to the south takes some time, but less time than driving across New York State, and traveling east to west takes almost no time. We spent a day in Eilat and I remember being able to see how close the Egyptian and Jordanian borders were to the beach. Israel is surrounded by enemies and the UN keeps urging them to give up more and more land for this mythical peace that I keep hearing about, but never comes.

But it has come. It is here. Giving the PLO its own fiefdom has given the US peace in Saudi Arabia, because their yearly extortion money is much lower, the PLO having the Palis to shake down and lord it over, and the US and EU to pump for the rest of the money.

It is my feeling that there is no love lost between Egyptians and the Hamas Palestinians. If they were desirable, rather than very undesirable, the Hamas Palis would be Egyptian. It seems to me that even though there is change in Egypt, it does not include scrubbing the stain off the people of Gaza

That's exactly right. But so to are those in our camp who are permoting candidates who support the Muzzies...this is even more alarming for they operate on our side influencing those even here on FR.
The push is on to get all governments compliant with the "staus quo" to prepare the nations for one world governance.

One of the goals of the Muslim Brotherhood is to get politicians to do their work for them....and they are. Worse than a sad state of affirs in our nation....we are under seige and few that understand this let alone willing to do anything about it.
