Original title: Rick Perry accused of hypocrisy as he comes under fire for investment in America's largest pornography distributor
Leading Republican contender and prominent Christian candidate Rick Perry has been accused of hypocrisy after it was revealed that he invested thousands of dollars in the country's largest pornography distributor.
Just a week after he launched his presidential campaign, the Texas governor has come under fire for his investment in Movie Gallery, a company that rented pornographic movies.
In 1995, while serving as Texas' agriculture commissioner, financial disclosures reveal that Mr Perry bought between $5,000 and $10,000 worth of the company's stock.
The revelation is particularly embarrassing for the Republican candidate as the company was boycotted by the American Family Association, which hosted Mr Perry's high-profile prayer rally in Houston a week before he kicked off his campaign.
In potentially even more damaging allegations, Mr Perry is accused of signing into law bills that could have benefitted the pornography distributor.

Good point. I doubt he is sitting on his eTrade account every day looking up who sells the dirtiest movies so he can invest money in them. Like most rich folks, I’m sure he has a broker he hires who uses a black-box program to automatically buy simply based on moves such as going above or below a 30 day SMA.

If this is the same “Movie Gallery” I know of, it is just a movie rental chain like Blockbuster and Hollywood. I use to see them primarily in smaller towns here in TX that didn’t have one of the bigger chains in town and they rented all the same stuff as everyone else.
Lo, it appears they are experiencing the same fate as the big guys in the rental biz. Last time I was back home the local Movie Gallery had shut down......

It is, they are the number 3 movie rental chain. I can see how this one would have been in some broker’s computer along with several hundred thousand other stocks, to automatically buy or sell based on market moves- with no consideration to anything about their business.
For example, I use a 30 Day SMA rule. No, I don’t have a lot to invest and I just use a hacked together program with about a hundred stocks listed, but the concept is the same. Something moves above or below that line, a buy or sell trigger is initiated. In my case I have to physically buy or sell it myself, but for a professional broker dealing with thousands of clients with millions of dollars each, it is all automatic.

Same here, which sucks - they were the only rental store left in town. I hate using those Redbox type deals where you go up to a kiosk. I want actually browse the store and look around.
