With the severity of this hell-inspired drought and the real danger of many Texas communities, whole cities, running out water completely, I’ll go out on the line and say that we can afford the sacrifice of one coastal area to quench the thirst of 90% of the state of Texas. Sorry, but communities can recover after a storm and advanced warning can save virtually all lives. We are dying inland.

Hey bud, you ever had property that went through a Cat 3 hurricane? You really think one hurricane is going to quench 90% of Texas?

I tell you what ... Maybe a nice front can come down and spawn an F5 tornado and wipe out your house. Hell Texas could use the rain.

Geez some people.

Check out the SST in the GOM. It's near boiling.

What is SST NautiNurse?

Okay, how about I wish for a marginal Cat 3 storm with the dirty side coming ashore in the sparsely populated King Ranch shoreline with no deaths? Happy now?

As bad as we need the rain, contrary to some people’s opinion, we don’t need a hurricane.

Nothing good can come from a tropical cyclone in the overheated Gulf of Mexico right now.

The trees have to be in a weakened condition...hurricane would be really scary.

I live in "the piney woods" and our trees are stressed.

Hi ya, sweetie. Looks like we got one comin' at us again.

Well, it's been a few years, and I already got a new generator so, here goes.

0bumbles is between a rock and a windy place. He needs FLA to win in '12 so he's gotta be somewhat helpful.

Thank-you for the updates!!

We've had a rather peaceful 7 year interlude..

....we evacuated twice during the last four hurricanes in 2004.

This one seems to have the forecasters eyes wide open.Lots of speculation as to where it will track.

Tampa Bay area HAM operator here, and the airwaves have been quite chatty about this one.

There’s some model divergence across the different predictors, but it seems that this one bears watching.

Anyone have a good hurricane prep checklist? Mine’s almost 15 years old, and I’ve scratched out, added, whited out, highlighted, asterisked, and erased almost everything on the paper.

Yesterday, the models were unusually consistent toward sending this storm up the gut of FL. Now they have diverged, and two (GFDL and UKMET) having it heading into the gulf, and the other 4 paralleling the east coast of FL. Again, this was based on today’s 2:00 a.m. runs.
