(RALEIGH) -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry has been in the Presidential race for barely more than a week, but Tom Jensen with Public Policy Polling said a recent round of polling in North Carolina and Colorado already ranks Perry close to deserving front runner status.
"We're already finding Perry tied for the lead in both North Carolina and Colorado and these polls were conducted before he even officially entered the race," said Jensen.
In North Carolina Perry is in a three way tie with Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin. Each getting 17-percent. Perry also led a poll conducted in Virginia three weeks ago.
If Perry and Palin are both in, the conservative vote will be continuously split from state to state as it was in 2008.
Solution: Perry should bow out.
There's no way I and many others will vote for anyone else so you might get your four more years of Obama. My advice; get on the Palin bandwagon and change those numbers.
If Sarah gets in, I’m a $100 monthly donor...if not I’ll save my money.
How do you reconcile his actual endorsement of special “hate crimes” status for certain groups, including homosexuals, with his stated opposition for their agenda?
How about November? That's a sweeps month. Should help her ratings and it might even assist whichever kid is on Dancing with the Stars that month.
Perry is a live and let live Conservative, he is tolerant of homosexuals but does not want to normalize their lifestyle into society. He opposes gay marriage and wants a constitutional amendment against it. Apparently he buys into the concept of a hate crime, which includes homosexuals as protected in addition to minorities, and I would assume whites and heteros too. I don’t know anything about the bill he signed but I doubt if it specifically excludes hetero whites. Yes, we all know that in practice it does.
I don’t agree with Perry on this issue, however, I believe the bill was proposed in the aftermath of the Byrd dragging slaying and all the emotion that surrounded it, it would have been real difficult to not sign it. I can’t imagine any of the candidates running now, in the same situation, not signing it either under those conditions.
” I want to take no chances.”
Then get ready to support Palin.
BTW... I am also old. LOL
Signing it was not the problem. He championed it, from my reading of old articles. I’m not trying to change minds here, but see what rational people on both sides say. All I know is that the name I vote for in 2012 will be conservative, even if I have to write it in.
LOL @ you.
Your PDS is worse than I had thought.
There is no perfect conservative, whomever you write in, unless it is some imagined conservative hero, will have blotches other conservatives can point out. Even Sarah has been called a RINO here, and Allen West too.
Do what you want, but I think Perry’s list of conservative creds outweigh his list of not so conservative creds, plus he is ten years tested on a very wide range of issues.
I have a luxury in that if my state is in doubt so that my vote on that line of the ballot makes a difference in November, 2012, the GOP has already lost.
so if she doesn’t get the nomination...you will punish the USA with 4 more years of the O?
I will vote for her if she gets the nomination, but we won’t get the independents and we will lose a lot of other votes.
I would vote for Howdy Dowdy if it would get the O out. Palin will not win against the O. I will be happy to eat these words but I know I may as well make a baloney sandwich.
If she gets the nomination I will vote for her but she will not win.
Well, at least you didn’t get ornery with me. LOL
Thank you for the vote.
I happen to believe, all the way to my bones, that you WILL see her win and that you will be very pleased that she did.
We will rebuild our country and Palin will be the leader that we patriots will help to do just that.
It’s going to take some time and hard work to wash the stench of Obama and his democrats away, but WE are strong enough to get the job done, as long as we have a strong leader.
BTW... I won’t make you eat that sandwich... just be ready to vote for when the time comes. ;>)
Shouldn’t the headline of this story be , non announced candidate Palin tied with Romney and Perry?
Interesting to see the results of these various polls.
Amazing to think what would happen if you combined Rick Perry’s and Sarah Palin’s results and put them up against Mitt Romney’s.
RPC Average
Perry 18.4
Palin 10
Total Perry and Palin 28.4
Romney at 20.2
Fox News
Perry 13
Palin 8
Total Perry and Palin 21
Romney at 21
CNN
Perry 15
Palin 12
Total Perry and Palin 27
Romney at 17
McClatchy
Perry 18
Palin 10
Total Perry and Palin 28
Romney at 21
With the minor exception of a tie in the Fox News polling, Mitt Romney doesn’t even come close.
