Movie: The Help -- designed to incite violence
Movie: The Help ^

Posted on 08/22/2011 6:05:46 PM PDT by MeneMeneTekelUpharsin

This movie, "The Help" has been written, filmed and distributed with the sole purpose of inciting violence at a politically fragil time in this country. Yes, some of the events in the movie occurred, but it is nowhere representative of society as a whole.

As a matter of fact, the historical background of a lot of leading Democrats would tie directly to this film, but getting the general public to notice that at this time would be futile. Some unbelievably emotional scenes exist in this movie to denigrate white society to the fullest.

I can not believe the timing of the release of this film. The primary "evil" white woman character could very easily be a young Nancy Pelosi. Whoever has decided to release such a film at this time into a politically-charged environment bears a LOT of responsibility for the effects.

I can't believe all of this stuff is happening. It is almost like a propaganda war is being waged against the conservative populace of this country to eventually bring to bear forces to destroy it. We do not live like the characters in that movie and to bring it out now tries to paint every white person with the same racist brush found in that movie. This is all senseless and insane given the eventual results.

Although well-writtena and well-filmed, I believe a far more sinister motive exists for the release of this film at this time other than a profit, documentary or other noble cause.

I saw a preview of this movie on some goofy show the wife was watching. It looked like one of those goofy “All of my best friends are black”, white liberal wack job things. I’m gonna pass.

I haven’t read the book or seen the movie. Have you seen the movie?

My squish of a liberal friend on Facebook didn’t like the book because it “makes it look like black people needed a white person to help them out.”

*faint*

Clockwork Orange is just a documentary ahead of it's time. Much like Idiocracy.

I understand you questioning motives and timing of this film’s release but that feels like a stretch to me. A year from now, I might subscribe to your thesis since we would be in the middle of the actual election run-up.

Can you help me a little bit with the reasoning here? I'm not going to read this book or see the movie, unless I wind up in a re-education camp. What do you mean 'incite violence'? Also, how is this next quote a problem:

The primary "evil" white woman character could very easily be a young Nancy Pelosi.

Seems to me that any evil white woman, fictional or not, could plausibly grow up to be Nancy Pelosi.

When I saw Idiocracy for the first time, that’s exactly what I thought: “Someone finally filmed documentary the really takes place in the future.”

The fools want to spark a race war, while being outnumbered at least 8:1

Given the jackass demographic, such thinking prolly doesn't surprise anyone.

Arm yourselves, physically AND mentally.

wiki summary. Sounds like yet another "make whitey feel guilty" movies.

It made $75M this weekend on a production budget of $25, so it's already in the black (pun intended).

I think you are right. It’s a super slick presentation tear jerker from the start. But the overall bent is to once again play the race card which is rumored to be all zero has left to run on. And,,, run on it he will to the very end.

I remember when ‘Billy Jack’ was in the theaters. I was 15 years old and it had the desired effect; it incited feelings of violence. The audience in that theater was probably 15-25 and when the movie was over, everyone was ready to cause problems...major problems.

It’s a manipulation and the goal is to stir up violence.

If the film were meant to incite violence and foment a race war then the same must be said for the book it is based on.

The film is nearly identical to the book.

I read the book some time ago and enjoyed it. Since then, it's become a best seller. Haven't see the movie but probably will.

I saw the movie this weekend and thought it was pretty good. A better director and screenwriter probably could have gotten more out of the actors and book, however.

I did not take this as having an ulterior political motive. At one point during the movie, at the big fundraiser, I was smiling to myself thinking virtually every white person in that room was a Democrat.

It is based on a best seller novel, written by a woman who grew up in Jackson and whose family had a black maid. Seems pretty natural to make it into a movie.

In the 60s in the south the majority of people were Democrats and the KKK and the elite were pretty much exclusively Democrats.
