VINEYARD HAVEN, Massachusetts -- President Barack Obama, perhaps seeking a break from harsh reality after a tough summer battling the economy and Republicans in Congress, has picked a summer reading list that is long on fiction.
The White House says four of the five books that Obama has to choose from during a nine-day family vacation here are novels.
Obama's reading list -- like the criticism from Republicans for vacationing while the economy is stumbling -- is a rite of the summer.
But his choices ignored the weighty biographies of great Americans typically on a president's reading list.

2 of those fiction books are the ones he supposedly wrote...
His ideology is based on fiction.
One out of the books looked interesting to me, I would probably read it, but again I don't believe this guy is going to actually read any of them.
Hey Obama, if you are going to read fiction, pick up a good fantasy book like one of Terry Goodkind's books? How about "Debt of Bones" (nice read, enchanting, capturing, and not TOO long in pages so it would be perfect while you are on vaca while needing to be disturbed once every few hours with more bad economic news, and that Quadaffi's son is actually ok, around, and making folks cheer) ...
“His ideology is based on fiction.”
Barak Obama is based on fiction.
Hussein: "I didn't get everything I wanted and having trouble nowadays blaming all on Bush. Why don't you love my socialist backside anymore? What? You don't have a job? Blame that on Japan's tsunami, too small of stimulas pork, not enough spending for redundant infra-structure projects, and especially the mean Republicans who didn't allow us to take more of your wages through tax increases."
Hussein: "I so miss my community organizing days where everyone thought I was the next coming."
I like fiction. Wtf?
Sure hope Professor You Lie of the Chicago School of Bureaucratic Socialism (BS) chose to read a couple of my favorite fiction books!
I liked THE BUDGETS PASSED
IN 2009, 2010, AND 2011.
My very favorite is WHY WAS I IMPEACHED?
I hope you enjoyed that ‘last blast’. Scumsucking loathing... follow you...0
Between Men: Best New Gay Fiction, this is right down his alley!!!
It's just another (apparent) lie.
One does not suspect that Mister Obama is all that "bookish" .
A true Obama cynic might even wager that he doesn't actually finish them all, and might not even get past the first chapter on most of them.
Heck, I read all my kids’ fantasy books. I am officially an expert on Percy Jackson and the Olympians. :)
Immerhin, das ist keine Erdichtung!
Same here; sci-fi and military for me.
How do we know these weren’t bought for other people?
Two good ones, Doom. I doubt anyone in this administration even knows about Unintended Consequences. I am sure that they would ban both if they had read them. (proud owner of 3 copies of UC for loaning)
He’s not going to seriously read any of these books.
Sure, he’s going to read 4 books in 9 days of vacation. What a liar! More than likely he is being briefed on each one of them so that if he’s asked any questions about them he can give some type of answer to impress the MSM and fool the stupid voters who put him into office.
You just gotta love the fact that we now have a Ministry of Propaganda here in the U.S. now.
"Um, er, oh Ms. Bachmann - I've heard of her - but what is a 'Von Mises'?"
Maybe his girls read them to him at bedtime.
Without a teleprompter, Obama does not impress as either intelligent, articulate, well-educated, or well-read. I doubt if he has the attention span to read anything serious.
Don’t they like to call the comic books now days graphic novels? Perhaps he was referring to them. He has enough time to read five comic books in 9 days.
I’m reading, “The Longest Day” atm .. :)
