Waters to Obama aide: Say 'black' By: Jennifer Epstein August 23, 2011 11:11 AM EDT

Rep. Maxine Waters and other black leaders lobbed heated questions at one of President Barack Obama’s top jobs advisers Monday, pressing him to confirm the White House is focusing on creating jobs in struggling African-American communities — and to say the word “black.”

Don Graves, the executive director of the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, said at a nighttime forum at a black church in Miami that the president is “focused on every community across the country,” The Miami Herald reported.

But when he added that “certain communities have been hit harder than other communities,” Waters pushed him. “Let me hear you say ‘black,’” the California Democrat said.

As the crowd cheered, The Washington Post said in its report on the Congressional Black Caucus-sponsored event, Graves quietly said: “black, African-American, Latino — we’re going to focus on getting people back to work.”

The approach that assisting all communities helps African-Americans get jobs is “a bunch of bull,” Rep. Laura Richardson (D-Calif.) said, according to the Post. Later, she asked Graves whether he would help shuttle dozens of pieces of jobs legislation authored by CBC members to the president so he could enact them using executive authority.

“You all don’t need to go through me to get to the president,” Graves said.

That’s the dirty little secret “down south”. I know when I moved down south from the north, I was expecting black/white racisim. Nope, it was black/mexicans. Blacks and whites really had no issues so to speak. Real eye opener.

They can't help but to out themselves as the racist, white-hating monsters they are. Hold on people, this is going to get really, really ugly and the CBC and Maxine Waters and her ilk are taking us there.

What Kerosene Maxine wants is REPARATIONS. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less.

The problem w/ job training is the expectation that youll get a job once the course has run. I think thats the big show stopper for the majority. The few remaining would have to commute well away from their community. That is, no sane business would locate in these communities b/c of crime and lack of qualified workforce. We could dump endless buckets of $ into the problem never to see a return. In fact the problems usually get much worse. Anyone w/ a brain understands these programs enslave more than liberate.

“Let me hear you say ‘black,’”

Can you believe this lunacy? I think its hysterical. Obama has so conditioned himself to be superficially appealing to middle America that I bet he stuttered and stammered and barely got the word out. Kinda like Fonzi saying he was sorry on the old Happy Days show.

Obama has really done nothing for the black community. He's done more for unions and Hispanics than he has for them.

And yet . . . he'll get 90% of the black vote in 2012.

So, if you ask me, it's their own fault.

They need to figure out that the key to political power is not following the same old party time after time after time.

Since she's considerably more well off than I am, with the political power to boot, I'll stick to my statement. In any event, how do you know I'm a Cracker?

I think they were be facetious.

Wow... she just absolutely came out, unambiguously, and stated that the government should have specific programs for “blacks”...

equal protection anyone?

Nobody wants to work in that community - not among the younger people. That would be acting white. Heaven forbid!

Once upon a time, I would get people into the CETA program(during the Nixon years). It was garbage.

One year later, people would call looking for another job.

Ugh.

Whatever happened to her corruption investigation? She’s not even smart enough to keep a low profile.

Previously, they’ve couched it as “minority programs”, which often benefitted white women as much as anyone.

I’m not certain, but I’d bet you’d be hard pressed to find any legislation that states “this benefit is for blacks only”.

I’ve heard that over and over...Obama’s done nothing for the black community. But I say...what’s he to do for the black community? Whatever it is that would satisfy them (and they typically act as though they’re never satisfied), would probably tick off the majority of the population. They want wealth distribution - free rent, free food, free transporation, free medical care, free education, they want everything for free, because IMHO at the very core of the black race in America is the victim mentality that believes they are owed all those things because of what happened to their ancestors. Until the black community accepts the fact that they are no longer owed anything because of the past, and that they need to be responsible and to work like everybody else for a better life for they and their children’s future, nothing is ever going to change. It’s only going to get worse, especially in light of the fact that an estimated 70% of black babies are born to young, single mothers. It’s a disaster-in-the making. Just think of what’s going to happen so long as the black community continues with this trend, once the current older-generation of responsible African-Americans dies off. They are the last of those to set an example for their black community offspring, and once they are gone, the majority of blacks IMHO will not want to assimilate in with what they perceive as the “white” man’s culture. I hope I’m wrong, but it doesn’t take a genius or even a Harvard grad to see the direction our country is headed.

Affirmative Action was what I referred to. While it was written against discrimination against race, religion or national origin, it focused (one could say its purpose) on race more than anything and has been recognized as such ever since.
