What especially amuses me about nationalized healthcare is that proponents initially complain about everyone else’s “greed”: doctors are greedy, HMOs are greedy, hospitals are greedy, medical-device manufacturers are greedy, pharmaceutical companies are greedy, and, in general, all corporations are greedy. But when you pry a little bit as to why they believe nationalized healthcare would be a good idea, it always comes down to things like “MY husband has a pre-existing condition,” “MY son needs braces,” “MY daughter needs an abortion,” “MY mother needs a hernia operation.” When I point out that everyone has needs, but that to burden everyone else with them is an instance of personal greed, they just glare at me.
We need to colonize Mars. Send the libs there.
