Skip to comments.Perry takes lead in new Iowa poll; Update: Perry has double-digit national lead in PPP poll ?

A couple of caveats are in order before we start looking at this poll. First, it comes from PPP, a Democratic pollster which has had its fair share of difficulties in sampling Republicans. Its also early in the race, as Rick Perry just starts getting vetted and Sarah Palin hasnt yet begun to campaign, if in fact she decides to campaign at all.
Still, this is a rather dramatic result:
The race is pretty close four ways in Iowa but Rick Perry is the new favorite among Republican voters in the state. Among announced candidates hes at 22% to 19% for Mitt Romney, 18% for Michele Bachmann, and 16% for Ron Paul. Further back are Herman Cain at 7%, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum at 5%, and Jon Huntsman at 3%.
If you throw Sarah Palin into the mix the numbers are pretty similar with Perry at 21%, Romney at 18%, Bachmann at 15%, Paul at 12%, and Palin registering at only 10%.

"Serious mental illnesses (SMIs), which afflict about 6% of American adults, cost society $193.2 billion in lost earnings per year, according to findings published in this month's American Journal of Psychiatry."

Perry coddles illegal immigrants, and tries to pretend that Islam can peacefully co-exist in America. And his doubling spending in Texas in 10 years does not give comfort. His insistence on Gardasil and the Trans-Corridor Highway long after people’s sensible objections were made clear, make me trust his judgment and trustworthiness. Bob
I'm so busy at work today I haven't had time to peek in here occasionally (I have to work to support the other 50% s/), but decided to just take a quick look and seeing this is making this horrible day a little brighter.
>> Clearly the people that conducted this poll suffer from Palin Derangement Syndrome.
You got it! Disregard this unfair poll; it was skewed towards Perry supporters.
You must not read much. Look at the next several posts.
>> I DO believe that she polls poorly now, but thats not a political death sentence
Maybe not... unless it persists all the way to the poll that’s taken at the primary ballot box.
Yes it is reassuring that nothing was used by Rove: had he anything we would have heard about it.
>> I just hope that all these sexual rumors have no basis in fact.
I’m not aware of any “sexual rumors” at all. Is he rumored to have sex with Mrs. Perry? That could hurt his chances with the liberal portion of the voting public.
Tell you what though, I sure as hell hope he never employed a nanny! Those damned nannies are political POISON!
You must be living in a cave. Why not google up “sexual rumors perry” and you can look at some of the scores of articles within the last week? I’m glad to get you up to speed.
>> You must be living in a cave.
Maybe. But I’d rather live there than in your gutter.
I’m puzzled though... I offer a lighthearted humorous response and it gets under your skin. Why? Are you sore that I’m not buying into your thinly-veiled Perry putdown?
I typed in “sexual rumors Palin” and got a boatload of links. Does that make it true?
One of the top results is something about homosexual rape of men.
Interesting link relating to the Beatles song “Dig a Pony” as well....
“I typed in sexual rumors Palin and got a boatload of links. Does that make it true?”
Yeah but your just a Palin hater/s
Yes, as well as doctors without borders. But of course, nobody is running full page ads to for persons who have consorted with my screen moniker or Doctors without Borders.
No question, she must eviscerate her caricature. Fortunately, I believe that Gov. Palin can easily do this by just being herself. Bob
Isn’t that the truth....
Hmmmm...you are a rather smart dude...
