Former U.S. Congressman Walter Fauntroy was among the foreigners trapped in the Rexos Hotel in the Libyan capital of Tripoli.
An associate of Martin Luther King, Fauntroy, 78, arrived in Libya a week ago as a part of a peace mission.
Fauntroy, pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church, had warned the danger he and the journalists faced.
"As a minister who believes in the fervent and effective prayers of the righteous, I have joined with Dr. K.A. Paul in an appeal to people ... to pray for deliverance for not only us, but the press corps.

How'd that happen?
"Fervent and effective prayers for the press corps......"
By joining the press corps, he may have elevated them all to a hostage status. If Qaddafi doesn't get out of town safely he may have condemned them all. Qaddafi must have been thrilled to have a US Congressman under his control.
Qaddafi loyalists are cornered and the rebels may be under no compunction to back off and begin standoff negotiations.
This may take a special forces extraction, not likely to end peacefully.
Maybe they should have chosen to go to Israel instead.
“Oh I know! Let’s go to a war zone! Won’t that be cool?” What rot.
Can they keep him?
keep him there..
Not missed here....
Shoulda stayed home and played with the grandkids.
Poor Little Lord Fauntroy . . .
Yes, but it will cost us.
Stupidity it seems knows no bounds.
...righteous and effective prayers can be conducted from a place that is not likely to be turned into a fireball by either side of in a war zone....
Fauntroy views the grassroots conservative Tea Party movement as a racist political group. In an August 26, 2010 article by ABC, Fauntroy said, "We are going to take on the barbarism of war, the decadence of racism, and the scourge of poverty, that the Ku Klux -- I meant to say the Tea Party," Fauntroy told a news conference today at the National Press Club. "You all forgive me, but I -- you have to use them interchangeably."

After 3 or 4 days of his BS and rants/raves, THEY will meet all our demands -
As long as we take him back
As out of whack as his politics may be, I believe he is a sincere Christian minister. Praying for his safety.
If he is that ignorant to go over there then he should be kept there..Any other moron would more than likely know better..
The State Department was also completely unaware of his plans. This is a major complication for all.
It is unlikely that his "Fervent prayers" will have much sway in muslimville. We can only hope that he does as well as Daniel. My prayers will be for the Special Forces that may have to rescue him from the lethal position he put himself into.
His vigilante peace mission could likely cause a great deal of unpeaceful violence. The rebels are certainly itching to finish this fight.
Who cares about this worthless white hating bastard?
The marxists in the black caucus have been coddling Qadaffi for decades...go figure. (eye roll)
'Unpeaceful violence' - why, that's the worst kind!
