COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Gunshots rattled in a "sleepy" Colorado Springs neighborhood and almost led to a stand-off with police.
Colorado Springs Police officers were sent to the 4600 block of Sleepy Hollow Circle North near Oro Blanco drive Tuesday night after neighbors reported a man was shooting a shot gun off his back deck.
An automatic notification was sent out to residents in the area instructing them to stay inside and move to lower parts of their homes.
Ceasar Archuleta, who lives across the street from the shooter, was home when the shooting started and caught the incident on camera (click on the video above).
"As you can see, the video shakes a little bit. I was kind of nervous," Aruchleta said
Guess he needs help finding the local trap & skeet range. Let's hope he gets that help.
It doesn’t say “why” he was shooting off his back deck, or if any of the “shot”, or a slug went outside of his property line...

No. They're not.
Thank you for that clarification. I live in town, but here we are allowed to discharge firearms in the city limits if the projectiles don't cross our property line, or we have permission from adjoining property owners for the shots to cross their property line.
Wish that were so in every city and town-most here in Colorado that I am aware of have local ordinances that prohibit the discharge of any weapon within city limits.I may well be displaying my ignorance by this reply. But there has got to be a better way to insure the rights of he people are not infringed upon.
In my town when the city council attempted to pass such an ordinance, the 4H, private citizens, Safari Club, and everyone else in town went into torches & pitchfork mode.
There were really only about three people who wanted to ban discharges. Their "reasons" weren't backed up by statistics, or reality.
That sounds like a fair law that respects private property rights.
Technically, it's even illegal to fire a BB gun or a dart gun in Colorado Springs' city limits.
9.7.104: DISCHARGE OF WEAPON: A. It is unlawful for any person to wrongfully fire or discharge any cannon, gun, pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, air gun, BB gun, gas operated gun, spring gun, or firearm within the City. The discharge of firearms using only blank ammunition by the members of any military company when on parade or when engaged in an official ceremony, done in accord with the command of the commanding officers, shall not be deemed a violation, nor shall the discharge of firearms at shooting galleries as a licensed business, or as part of a business licensed or permitted to operate within the City be deemed a violation.
I live outside of the city limits in an unincorporated area. I've heard that county law lets me legally shoot on my property, but I've not been able to find that in writing. Luckily, I live fairly close to a very good shooting range.

It is illegal to discharge weapos in the ciy limits
In Colorado we have the “make my day” law, and it is legal to shoot unwanted intruders in your home. Holds down the break ins very effectively.
