American broadcaster Glenn Beck held an inspirational rally "Restoring Courage" in support of Israel and the Jewish people at the Davidson Center near the Kotel Plaza Wednesday. The rally was attended by thousands, many of whom came to Israel with him, and was viewed by many more on a giant screen at Safra Square in Jerusalem and worldwide on Beck's web-based television station.
"What can I teach Israel about courage?" he asked after the audience had risen for "Hatikva", Israel's national anthem, led by famed singer Dudu Fisher, with many waving Israeli and American flags. "Nothing", he said with emphasis.
"I am going to learn courage here. There is more courage in one square mile in Israel than in all of Europe", bringing the audience to its feet. .....

This is good to hear. Right now Israel needs our support more than ever. Good job Glenn Beck on showing support.
Good on Beck!
Israel must be real excited about the “liberation” of Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya under Barack Obama. Before this is over with, we might see the “liberation” of Syria and Turkey become the Ottoman Empire!
Are you in Israel still? Did you see this?
... and what happened to the ottoman empire the last time?
Granted , now that they have nukes it is a different story... Money can buy many things, but they are still a cave people. ERRrr sand people.
headline is a little missleading , about 1000 people turned out with little support from the locals , was a bit dissapointed really after all the hype.
Wrong! There were only a thousand people allowed on the plaza. There were thousands more offsite and many thousands worldwide that sponsored viewing partys. Nice try though!
I viewed the Glenn Beck show 8-17-10.
Glenn Beck spent the whole show trying to link the North American Indians to a Jewish heritage.
Beck knows that if he can link the American Indians to Israel he can validate Joseph Smith’s claims...Beck is corrupting the church with ecumenical unity by using national restoration as his unifying point.
The focus of the church is always the presentation of the gospel. To reform a political system without changing the hearts of men is ultimately futile. We are on a rescue mission, sent by our Creator, the One who came to earth to pay the penalty for the sin of humanity: “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Phil 2:8).
Professing agreement with this, Glenn Beck appears to hold contradictory ideas. In conflict with Mormon teaching, on his July 13, 2010, broadcast, he said, “You cannot earn your way into heaven. You can’t! There is no deed, no random act of kindness, no amount of money to spread around to others that earns you a trip to heaven. It can’t happen. It’s earned by God’s grace alone, by believing that Jesus died on the cross for you. This is what Christians believe.”
In direct contradiction to Beck, Mormon Apostle Richard G. Scott wrote, “The demands of justice for broken law can be satisfied through mercy, earned by your continual repentance and obedience to the laws of God [our emphasis]. Such repentance and obedience are absolutely essential for the Atonement to work its complete miracle in your life” (Scott, “The Atonement Can Secure Your Peace and Happiness,” Ensign [Conference Edition], November 2006, 42).
Beck urged graduates not to underestimate the power of the atonement. When he was 13, his mother took her life. He said he nearly followed in her footsteps. 'As a man who needed the atonement...I read the promise. He will carry your burdens. I made Him a promise. You keep your word and I will keep mine,' he said. 'He will never break his promise, and now it's all up to me'" (David Hylton, Liberty University Online, May 15, 2010).Of great concern are the "bridges" Beck is building as a representative of Mormonism. In that same commencement address, Beck stated that his appearance at Liberty was "an endorsement of your faith. This is a time when we all need to come together. We may have differences, but we need to find those things that unite us" (Ibid.).
There is the problem of Beck promoting the made-up history of The Book of Mormon as he attempted to "prove" that American Indians are the surviving descendants of Hebrews who came to North America. As the documentary DNA vs. The Book of Mormon demonstrates by presenting evidence from DNA researchers, including Mormon scientists, there is no link between the Mongoloid American Indians and Semitic Jews.
If Beck is serious about basing his faith on the Bible, he must forsake Mormon teachings and the "Jesus Christ" of the Latter Day Saints.
Anyone who proclaims the name of Jesus—even though his understanding of who that is may be far removed from the biblical Jesus—is nevertheless accepted as a brother in Christ. Conservativism, political or otherwise, is seen to be the glue of spiritual fellowship, and its characteristics have taken on scriptural status and a basis for kinship. I’ve been told that “Beck must be a Christian because he’s all about turning our country back to its Christian roots.” That’s erroneous on at least two counts.
Thanks Eleutheria5. I’m not a fan of Beck, but imho this is helping overthrow Emperor Zero.
What show were you “viewing?”
Its earned by Gods grace alone, by believing that Jesus died on the cross for you. This is what Christians believe.
Yes but its not what mormons believe and Beck knows it...
Anyone who proclaims the name of Jesuseven though his understanding of who that is may be far removed from the biblical Jesusis nevertheless accepted as a brother in Christ.
No they are not..
Did Beck tell his Jewish hosts that they were actually gentiles?
Do tell ...
Since Aug 25, 2011
Who will protect your rights better?" Beck asked with passion. "A king? A president or you? Who will protect the truth? The media?" -this last to rousing laughter -"A reporter? A producer? Or you?"
This could also be said about US. Beck is concerned about the impact if Israel is destroyed to freedoms here and the rest of the world.
After the Jesus people are raptured, those cave/sand people are going to pour out a horrible but Godly wrath upon this earth the likes of which has not been documented before, except for John’s glimpse in the Book of Revelation.
These anti-Mormon threads where "Christians" that absolutely know the "truth" show the ignorance of people that accept only their version of being saved.
As a Catholic, by the strict interpretation of the Catholic understanding of the Word of God, not a single Protestant would ever get to Heaven.
Do you "Christians" accept that?
I’m always amused by how “thumpers” are so insistent about being “born again” but breezily ignore the eating of his flesh and blood....
GB has a big pair. I miss his 5pm show and can’t afford to pay to see GBTV. Becktel is a jerk like williams.
As a Catholic, I'm just not Godly enough to pass judgement on others that may or may not meet certain criteria regarding Faith in Christ.
There seems to be so many "Christians" that find fault with Mormons and pass judgement on the Mormon's beliefs.
If you really believe in God, I'm sure he can sort it out without our input.
My neighbor is a Mormon and he is a fine a man as you will find anywhere.
When these anti-Mormon threads get going, my question is, how did I miss the anointing of the new all knowing group of beings, that call themselves "Christians".
You see, here is your problem. “The Catholic understanding”.
I can read. I have my own understanding of “The Word Of God”. I study the bible. I research its meaning. I don't rely on Popes, Cardinals, Bishops, Priests, etc. to tell me what it means. I can think for myself. I have the Holy Spirit to help me understand.
You should try it. I mean, read the “Word of God” for yourself. Pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal the Truth to you. Trust in God, not in “men”. Men are fallible, they have their own agendas.
“As a Catholic, by the strict interpretation of the Catholic understanding of the Word of God, not a single Protestant would ever get to Heaven.”
Wrong. Unless you know something the Pope doesn’t.
And I’m a fan of Flapp Jackson in the Morning this Morning, not this mormonic “Glenn Beck” and his mormonistic mormosities. Flapp Jackson would show this Beck character how to really stand up for Israel...
Don’t miss the salient point here. Mormons are not, doctrinally speaking, Christian. If you can’t make that detemination, you need to learn more about your own faith.
That being said, it is the height of hubris to criticize noble unbelievers simply for their unbelief.
Welcome to FR.....slow day at DU?
Why does that matter any more than it matters that Christians believe the only way to heaven is accepting Christ, a belief that says the Jews are damned?
Both are a set of beliefs which are different than Jewish belief. Israelis/Jews can accept the support of anyone who recognizes as Netanyahu said — “Israel is what’s right about the Middle East, not what’s wrong.” That is the belief that must be the same for an alliance to exist.
It doesn't matter a whit to me, I just think it's humorous that Beck's religion think Jews are gentiles.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
