WeatherBELL Analytics Meteorologist Joe Bastardi predicts Irene to be a cross between Hazel and the Mid Atlantic Hurricane of 1821. This will make Irene a top three hurricane since 1800.

Am I reading this right? Bastardi is forecasting Irene to be heading up the Hudson River valley? If so; that is VERY interesting...
Based in Joe’s track the Eye looks like it’s going straight over my house. WEEEEEEEEE
Earthquakes, hurricanes; are frogs next?
The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!
“Earthquakes, hurricanes; are frogs next? “
No, what happens next is obama comes back from vacation!
I think the locusts will come before the frogs. And after the frogs, a Lady Gaga concert. We’re all doomed.
Doomage. It is the end of the world!
THE NEW OFFICIAL TRACK HAS BEEN NUDGED WEST AS WELL.
OMG.
So, in my town it's been hail, earthquake, hurricane (plus I stubbed my toe this morning).
I’m in central (M)assachusetts. With a western track we’re a lot more screwed because it’s worse being on the eastern side of a hurricane because of tornado threats but there is a couple of up sides. Less rain. The more land it travels through the less powerful it will be. Also the more west it goes the less of a tornado threat.
I’ll have my generator all ready to go with a line running to the house ready to run my sump pump. If we lose power I will be ready. Sump pump comes first, anything else is secondary. Here in central MA we should be fortunate than most because we had a killer ice storm in December of 2008 that took down all weak trees and branches. They also took down or trimmed any ill trees that didn’t come down so my town will fare better than most power wise. I guess we’ll see but I’ll be ready.
Unfortunately; New England is looking at bad storms today which will further saturate the soil...if Irene is still packing plenty of wind; trees WILL come down. Power crews could be very busy early next week...
While I feel bad for the folks up there, at least America will learn that the South is not the only region with mobile homes.
Joe Bastardi forecaste ping.
Thanks for the ping. I’m glad we got a new emergency generator a few months ago.
If you look at the track of the 1938 hurrican..the so called “Long Island Express”... it was well offshore of the coast, and looked like it would follow the classic clockwise curve up and out to sea..when, all of a sudden..just about when it was passing the Outer Banks, all of a sudden it turned NW..and made a beeline for Long Island..and then RI...one never knows..
Any Rhode Island Freepers here? I feel a little like at heart I am a Rhode Islander as I lived there once and still go back as often as possible. I love the place.
Exactly...look at the last-minute turn Charley made in Florida a few years back...
