Has Bloomberg issued the mandatory NYC hurricane dress code yet, with color coded and uni-sourced slickers and galoshes, and hefty fines for non-conforming gear?
Everything else in NYC is regulated. Hard to believe they’ve overlooked this one.
Don't care who ya are, that's funny right there !
Zone C. This map gives more details. It is on Manhattan just to the west of the southern tip of the long narrow island (Roosevelt Island) in the East River.
The little bugger is gonna get wet.
Unexpected!
My daughter Boston in (0-4, Army Reserve) has been asked to join a taskforce. That’s all I know for now..,.
Great story !!! A few years ago we got brushed by a storm and the electricity was out for a couple of days. My kids went to the other side of town where they did have electricity to stay cool.
When our power came back on, I told the wife to keep the candles burning so it looked liked we had no electricity, just to get the kids whining.
Sure enough, when the the kids (teenagers) came home, every other house on the block had lights but us. We kept up story, and them in misery, for about 30 minutes til one of them opened the refrigerator and “saw the light”.
yep. Need to procure a spork-weasel anti-hurricane-drowning-suit
Much worse? Of course. But it is not like a rushing tsunami that will crash into the financial district. Just alot water where the engineer who designed everything want it to be and alot of wind.
Remember, the water itself does not do the most damage - it is the objects that the water moves around pushing into things people would rather stay in place.
It’s a good thing. The market will rally and some genius at Goldman Sachs will be introducing Hurricane futures. Bet on it.
Nope, no active volcanoes, although if you know what you're looking for you can see a lot of extinct ones.
I will say this, in the unlikely event the Yellowstone caldera exploded, we'd probably have about enough time to bend over and kiss our you know what's goodbye. :-))
Thanks for your info. Seems that subways might be used to get to higher ground, which is why I asked.
Moot point now as y’alls Mayor B. just announced that NYC’s rapid transit system will be closed at noon tomorrow.
Put your hip boots on!
Let us now how all y’all ( the “all” makes it plural ) do after Irene says goodnight.
