Eric Holder dedicates MLK memorial, says work is not done

In preparation for the official dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in D.C. this Sunday, Attorney General Eric Holder gave a rousing speech at a luncheon, Thursday, honoring the civil rights leader.

It was a touching tribute to the legacy of MLK and the advances minorities have made in securing equal rights since the riots and unrest that characterized King's heyday in the 1960s.

Holder's speech, however, contained a rather large "but."

"Now, despite all that has been achieved in recent years, the work of strengthening our nation and empowering all of our fellow citizens is incomplete," said Holder.

Black president? Check. Black attorney general? Check. Black surgeon general? Check. (Someone doesn't know how to take "yes" for an answer...)

When will be able to judge a man by the content of his character and not by the color of his skin?

The work will never be done as long as there is money and property to grab.

I(s that the statue created in red China? As a black columnist from the Washington Post said, King looks more like a politburo member than an inspirational preacher.

On more important news;

Mac,the crybaby liar, daddy is enjoying his 150th vacation while people can’t find jobs, the economy is at and all time low, America’s credit ratting has been lowered, people are losing their homes and families are finding it hard to feed their children.

So you worthless POS you continue to enjoy your vacation b because you have NOTHING TO OFFER THAT WILL SOLVE ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS.

Yea'butt,' the MLK memorial was made in China and the Misery Bus was made in Canada . . . what a guy!

"work is not done"

Too bad the death of over 660,000 Americans in the Civil War doesn't mean a thing to these racists.

"Black" president? "Black" attorney general? "Black" surgeon general?

They're no more "black" than I am "white." Hey, Holder, get the chip off your shoulder, you filthy racist!

He’s right...because Eric Holder and a few other STILL categorize people by the color of their skin.

The whites heard Martin....The blacks didn’t!!

Well, they certainly heard and embraced this:

"A society that has done something special against the Negro for hundreds of years must now do something special for him, to equip him to compete on a just and equal basis."

-- MLK in his book, Where Do We Go from Here

...and this:

"If a city has a 30% Negro population, then it is logical to assume that Negroes should have at least 30% of the jobs in any particular company, and jobs in all categories rather than only in menial areas."

-- MLK in Playboy (1968)

...and how about this characterization of Ronald Reagan from King?

“When a Hollywood performer, lacking distinction even as an actor, can become a leading war hawk candidate for the presidency, only the irrationalities induced by war psychosis can explain such a turn of events.”

-- MLK's comment on Governor Reagan in 1968

As a clarification to my prior posting in this thread, I want to make it clear that I don't wish to tarnish an important aspect of Dr. King's legacy.

As a result of his martyrdom, numerous streets, roads and freeways have been named in his honor. These aptly-designated thoroughfares (such as MLK Boulevard) provide warning for those of us in an unfamiliar city of exactly where NOT TO GO!

Seriesly, is there any village, town, borough or city where a venue named after MLK isn't inhabited by urban thugs?

Agree...I’m pretty much tired of hearing about him. I remember him and if he hadn’t been shot, he’d not have been immortalized as he has been. His name is now largely invoked by guilt-ridden whites trying to appease blacks and by blacks who want much more than non-violent peace - retribution and suffering are their aim.

Am I the only one who owns a GPS that automatically take me through those parts of any city....I'm thinking that the black chamber of commerce programmed mine. Not long ago I was in a city that I was fairly familiar with and decided just for the fun of it to follow the GPS...sure enough at 1500 in the afternoon thousands of black folks were wide eyed as I traveled through their "hood" in a white Lincoln...but being an old white fart they must have felt sorry for me and left me alone or maybe, just maybe they sensed that there was a .38 stub nose in the glove compartment...only the devil will ever know for sure.
