Art sends rare W.H. message on race

President Barack Obama has taken a decidedly low-key approach to racial issues since he became America’s first black president two years ago. But in a hallway outside the Oval Office, he has placed a head-turning painting depicting one of the ugliest racial episodes in U.S. history.

Norman Rockwell’s “The Problem We All Live With,” installed in the White House last month, shows U.S. marshals escorting Ruby Bridges, a 6-year-old African-American girl, into a New Orleans elementary school in 1960 as court-ordered integration met with an angry and defiant response from the white community.

The thrust of the painting is not subtle. America’s vilest racial epithet appears in letters several inches high at the top of the canvas. To the left side, the letters “KKK” are plainly visible. The crowds, mostly women who gathered daily to taunt Bridges as she went to a largely empty school, are not shown in the picture. But the racist graffiti and a splattered tomato convey the hostile atmosphere.

I dn’t care what kind of racist picture he puts in the White House, Sarah or Rick will remove it when they get there./

Oh yes, and that will definitely ‘prove’ WE are all racists.

Everything this bunch does is calculated to undermine and ‘embarrass’ us.

In one respect, they are ‘geniuses’, plotting and pulling off all these schemes..

Of course, I must be paranoid to think this way.

See- it works.... s/s

I just noticed something extremely weird about this painting. Usually the people in Rockwell's paintings look like they're caught in the midst of action, ordinary, everyday action. In this painting, though, every U.S. marshall is in exactly the same pose, as though they had been marching in formation in a fairly unnatural way, sort of like shuck and jive robots. The little girl's arm and hand placement mirrors that of the marshalls. The lack of heads reinforces the bizarreness.

The tomato is a bit weird, also, for its placement in time. If it had been thrown only milliseconds before, the juice wouldn't have had time to run down as far as it did. So, the tomato throwing was to have occurred before the group reached that spot.

“denigrated the tea party as racist bigots equivalent to the KKK”

That’s statisically impossible as there aren’t that many Dems in the TEA party.

I’m hoping, not very realistically probably, that most people have gotten over their “white guilt” when they elected this guy to “buy” racial absolution.
They got ripped off, obviously.

I no longer care about the word racist, or the accusation or the tone.

America has seen real racism at it’s worst with this adminstration.

I think most of us have a bellyfull of these accusations from the real racists.

The problem is the Obamas are trapped by and controlled by the past. They have no vision of the future.

........................I thought Obama was supposed to be the post-racial president........................

Yeah, that’s why the Zero’s dined with the Duval Patricks, the Jarratts and the Vernons on Martha’s Vineyard, because he and Mooch want to surround themselves with blacks.

I'm not sure how to take this.

Here's the context: these are the opening shots of the race war this vile and evil administration needs in order to consolidate its hold on power. Check this out: The 0bama Plan - Part Three from the ULsterman's White House Insider.

Insider: (Pauses)… As far as it takes. We’re preparing for it. I sure as hell hope America is too. Like I told you…this election coming up…Brutal.

Ulsterman: What do you mean by we – we are preparing for it? And are you actually saying that Barack Obama would push for race riots to somehow win a presidential election? That sounds…far fetched. Even for this administration.

Insider: Does it? How so? You need to take step back and see more of what has been happening in this country. It’s why this thing went from a concern about the party to a serious concern about the country. Why aren’t you seeing that?

Ulsterman: Just explain – the race rioting. I don’t see how that would help Obama get re-elected. It doesn’t…I just don’t see how that would work. In fact it seems like just the opposite. If we go from economic chaos to…whatever one would call it – racial chaos…that doesn’t help Obama. So yeah – I don’t see what you are saying there.

Insider: (Leans back – folds arms across chest) You and too many goddamn Americans don’t see it so don’t feel so bad. You know, other world leaders see it. Putin. Sarkozy. Merkel. Harper…Barack Obama is incapable of anything remotely resembling leadership, but he is also quite capable of the kind of dangerous arrogance that the very worst leaders in history possessed.

Folks, even if this is fiction, it's still too damn close to the truth. With everything that implies. This recent display of art pretty much seals the deal. They're seriously off balance, still not really understanding the shellacking they received last November. The race war gambit is all they have left. They have no idea who we really are and what we stand for. All they can see is an enemy that must be dealt with. And eliminated. That's you and me, folks. Don't go quietly.

In fact, Obama campaigned for Byrd’s reelection in 2006.

The hypocrisy of these people is truly amazing to behold.

I was a child at the time the schools were being integrated. I remember listening (we didn't have television yet) to the reports on the news. What sticks in my mind is the sound of the mob that gathered to verbally assault those children. If I close my eyes, I can still hear the rage and hatred of the shouting mob that slammed through the radio into our peaceful farm house.

As a child, integration made no sense to me. I could not understand why anyone would not be allowed to attend the school closest to their home.

As an adult, the children who were the first to attend an all white school are heroes to me...and they should be to you. They stood up for what was right and paid a great price for it.

I think it is important to honor those who struggled for equal rights and separate that struggle from the LBJ Great Society programs. The struggle for equal rights for all Americans was the end of the wrong and shameful ‘separate but equal’ policies. The Great Society programs were a political calculation designed to keep Democrats in power for generations. The former was good and noble, the later was politically cunning and ultimately destructive.

"...U.S. marshals escorting Ruby Bridges, a 6-year-old African-American girl, into a New Orleans elementary school in 1960 as court-ordered integration met with an angry and defiant response from the white community" who were PREDOMINATELY DEMOCRATS

I guess that inconsequential little fact got edited out of the story.

The KKK were the paramilitary wing of the Democrat party, with a brief to hunt down uppity republicans and blacks.

Fast Forward to 2011 and the paramilitary wing of the DNC is La Raza.
Same racist agenda, different race.
