Has Sarah Palin exhausted the patience of her supporters?
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | 08/24/2011 | Peter Grier

Posted on 08/26/2011 10:21:29 AM PDT by BuckeyeTexan

There is some evidence that while waiting for a potential Sarah Palin presidential run, her potential voters have moved on and now support other tea party-backed candidates, such as Rick Perry or Michele Bachmann.

Has Sarah Palin waited too long to announce she’s running for president?

(...) So if she does throw her snow machine helmet into the ring, she might start a White House race closer to the back of the pack than the front.

First, let’s address the waiting part. The former Alaska governor on Tuesday denied that she intends to announce a White House bid on September 3, (...)

(snip)

Palin might use the September 3 address to endorse another candidate. She might use it to make it clear she will announce at some point – Governor Perry used that same sort of slow-unveiling strategy as he edged into the race.

But the problem is at this point she may be exhausting the patience of potential Palinites.

(snip)

“I think Palin could get back a number of voters should she get into the race – people who gave up on her running and moved on to someone else. But, I do not think it would put her in a strong enough position to get into first or second place,” writes Erickson.

Some other analysts are less negative. In an opinion piece for CNN, political scientist Paul Sracic of Youngstown State University in Ohio writes that Palin’s on-camera optimism about America seems natural and akin to that of GOP icon Ronald Reagan.

“This offers at least the possibility that, despite her current low standing in the polls, she will be able to leap-frog over the more negative sounding Bachmann and Perry, and compete head-to-head with Romney,” writes Sracic.

Still over a year until the election, so the answer is NO. Sarah marches to her own drum, and I am sure she never listens to a left leaning article and org like this one.

They fear her big time. And they should.

She could also decide to mount a 3rd party effort which gives her planty of time to do a lot of things.

1. I still think she’s the best prospect in the field. So no.

2. There are some people who are still trying to get Chris Christie to run. So srsly, no.

bingo.

If Perry hadn't entered, everyone would still be clamoring for someone else and Palin could of rode in and saved the day.

But that trains done left the station. If she entered now she'd start at 3 at best, and more likely 4 or lower in the polls.

The good news is that Romney doesn't have any supporters, only name recognition, so he isn't a real threat to anyone including Palin. So in the end it would be a 3 way dog fight between Perry, Palin, and Bachmann. Bachmann in my opinion would lose that split easily, which would leave it a 2 way race between Perry and Palin. Either of which would make great presidents.

But having said all that, I just don't see her jumping in at this point, unless Perry implodes some how.

Seems like a massive media effort to freeze the field.

IMO, Governor Quid Pro Quo is going to present an easier Dem/MSM target than his supporters believe. Running a victory lap two weeks after an announcement is, well, stupid.

No, not at all.

Plus it gives conservatives more time to learn how marginal and careless Perry's pandering to the open borders/amnesty/La Raza crowd has been.

I am a Sarah Palin supported and she has not exhausted my patience.

The Christian Science Monitor on the other hand, has exhausted my patience decades ago.

She could also decide to mount a 3rd party effort which gives her planty of time to do a lot of things.

She has already indicated that she will support the eventual GOP nominee - "ABO, anybody but Obama". Since a 3rd party run would insure a second Obama term, I can't see her perticipating in that. It would also destroy any future she has in electoral politics (for an example, see John Anderson).

I seem to recall a candidate for president who didn’t announce until November, didn’t do particularly well in Iowa, had run for president previously, was considered to be down in the polls as late as three to five days before the election, and ended up winning over 400 electoral votes.

I believe he would’ve been 100 this year...has some library out here in Simi Valley...

Still over a year until the election,

I guess you are referring to the General Election in Nov. 2012. But the GOP Primaries begin in less than six months and the deadlines to get on the ballot in some of the first ones are closer still. Now if she runs as a 3rd party in Nov. then no problem with the deadlines, just get the process in place to meet the criteria to be on the ballot line.

No way Sarah runs third party, she knows that would guarantee bambi’s re election. If she did she would be accused of being a Soros operative, and that would be one of the nicer things said about her.

No way! Rove and the establishment shills can go pound sand.

Sarah will announce when it's the best time to do so. I believe Reagan announced in November. Sarah said she will decide in the Sept/Oct timeframe. I will support her whenever she announces and I trust her judgement about the timing.

I hope she waits until the very last moment to enter the race. The media and the other candidates are losing it behind the scenes. “Why can’t she just decide? Waaaaaah”. To which I ask, “Why do you care”? When she gets in the rest of the field may as well go home save for Perry.

She either needs to get in or get out and stop confusing the voters.

Being fluent in English, I've found nothing she's said confusing. For those NOT fluent in English, I can see there may be a problem.
