A 10-year-old boy who died of dehydration after his parents deprived him of water last month was being disciplined for wetting the bed, authorities said Friday.

Documents obtained a day after Jonathan James’ father and stepmother were arrested in his death show how the boy suffered while he was denied drinking water for five days in July. And in an interview Friday, Jonathan’s grandmother said that he had called her in late June to say he was afraid to live with his father and stepmother for a month-long, court-ordered custody visit.

Jonathan died July 25 after he collapsed at the Red Bird home of his father and stepmother, and rescuers were unable to revive him

As a 4, 5 and 6-year-old, I used to be awakened to a strap across my bare butt for being an enuretic (bedwetter). Also quite likely causal to this treatment was a father who had a sadistic streak adding unique flavor to his clinical condition as a paranoid schizophrenic. He said that I, his only son, was trying to "make him look like a bad father." LOL! Like he needed any help...

Anyway, I don't want to make this a pity-party post, rather, with the previous data as some evidence of my bona fides to opine authoritatively on the topic, I sincerely believe that the parents of this deceased child deserve to have their genitalia removed with pliers, to ensure they will not be afforded any more opportunities for failed experiments in parenting.

Dead serious.

“I used to be awakened to a strap across my bare butt...”

Not a pity party, Gargantua, but prayers your way for the treatment you endured. I hope you stay strong, courageous, and kind. Your Father didn’t deserve the blessing of a son.

I refuse to believe any slander these parents say to defend their actions. The boy can no longer defend himself against what I believe to be false charges of bedwetting.

Yeah, that says a lot doesn’t it?

This is just gross inhumanity. They made him stay in an un-air-conditioned room IN THE SUN!?!?!? That IS torture, the Japanese and Vietnamese did that to prisoners.

Of course he was wetting the bed, he was being TORTURED!!!

Our court system is so jacked up. The kid calls his grandma for help. The court’s essentially prevented his mom and grandparents from saving him.

When my cousins were the subject of a vicious divorce, they always interviewed the kids in private to make sure they weren’t scared of going with a particular parent. By 10, they were very clear and vocal about where they wanted to go. Even though their mother was a lunatic, she was smart enough to know that if she didn’t pamper and spoil them, they’d start refusing to visit with her.

The wacky thing is, before 10, she kidnapped them, was on the lamb for 3 months and didn’t get caught until she had a wreck on the interstate putting them all in the hospital. Stupid courts gave her visitation rights again!! That was Oklahoma.

The local news reported that this was court ordered visitation and the child did not want to go and stay with his father. His desire not to go may well be the reason for the bed wetting.

From what the news is reporting it is easier to get a conviction for child endangerment than it is for murder and the penalties are the same, in this case up to 99 years in prison.

One of my kids used to wet the bed too. Hello, plastic mattress cover. Just keep doing the sheets. Eventually they outgrow it. Don’t shame them at all, it’s not done on purpose.

I believe they should be denied water until their deaths. They should be made to feel the agony they brought upon that precious young man.

One of my sons had a bed-wetting problem. Fortunately, we a had a great pediatrician.

He asked me if my son, when he need to pee, would dance around, like most kids, before finally giving up play and go.

I said no, that as soon as he had to go, he went.

The doc said: “Don't let him. Make him hold it for a bit.”

The problem was that that by not doing the pee- dance, the bladder hadn't stretch out to overnight capacity.

The “treatment” worked like a charm.

I agree. Go Old Testament on those 2 devils.
An eye for an eye...

Those 2 better be facing the death penalty, and they better get it. I hope Texas has installed a fastlane on Death Row by now.

As Ron White says, “In Texas, if you kill someone, we will kill you back.”

In a way, killing them is too easy on them....I want them to spend the next 50 years in excruciating pain.
