Google Cuts Churches Out Of Nonprofit Program
Christianity Today ^ | d 8/25/2011 | Matt Branaugh

Brian Young had big plans for his church's IT strategy. But his vision suffered a serious setback this summer after Google Inc. altered its nonprofit program to prohibit all churches and religious organizations from participating.

For years, the search and software giant individually offered some of its products—including its office software and popular Gmail—for free or discounted use to qualifying nonprofits. Eligibility requirements varied by product, but churches and faith-based groups were welcome to use some.

All of that changed in mid-March when the company launched "Google for Nonprofits." The new initiative united a robust set of Google's tools into one program, but it also came with new guidelines that excluded numerous entities, including schools, political thinktanks, churches, proselytizing groups, and any organization that considers religion or sexual orientation in hiring decisions.

Yes, they now pimp their advertisers rather than provide information. I do use Google maps, but again the ratio of static to information is fairly high.

A man dies and stands before St. Peter, said St. Peter "it looks like you've been a bad boy so you are going to hell".
The man asks Peter, "what's hell like?"
St. Peter says "Google it".

I’m of the mind we’re going to see more and more control of the internet.....and less and less will we see Christian sites represented.

Well I’ll just have to refer to that now that you’ve made it known... if you don’t mind....although we might all be better off developing our own as well...I fear one day the information just won’t be accessible. However I do have plenty of Bibles.

“However I do have plenty of Bibles.”

Well, some extreme leftists would restrict that, http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=20273

http://www.bcrevolution.ca/bible_ruled_%27hate_literature%27.htm:

The Bible can be construed as hate literature if placed in a particular context, according to a Canadian provincial court.

The Court of Queen’s Bench in Saskatchewan upheld a 2001 ruling by that province’s human rights tribunal that fined a man for submitting a newspaper ad that included citations of four Bible verses.

A columnist noted in the Edmonton Journal last week that the Dec. 11 ruling generated virtually no news stories and “not a single editorial.”

And http://www.thealabamabaptist.org/print-edition-article-detail.php?id_art=6752&pricat_art=1,

Christian Sailer and Gert-Joachim Hetzel, two lawyers belonging to the “Universal Life” sect, have asked the ministry of family affairs to classify the Bible as inappropriate literature for children. The application was rejected by Minister Christine Bergmann.

WOW....it’s looking pretty bad when they lable the Bible as hate literature. But then we have seen this coming when they passed the “hate bill”.

No doubt our churches will also be monitored.

So when do you think the church will have to go underground?

It will be progressive for the remnant, unless a great awakening take place, which it seems would take a lot of judgment to do, and if we were being the single-hearted light we should be then we might have been driven underground by now if the US did not respond to grace by repentance faith in the Lord Jesus.
