At a ceremony to honor the opening of the new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in our nation's capital Friday, the late civil rights leader's daughter Bernice made an historical error that would evoke tremendous ridicule and derision if she were a conservative.
BERNICE KING: "But as I close, I close with the recognition that daddy is standing, Lincoln is seated. Lincoln remembered for signing the Declaration of Independence. Daddy being remembered as standing up for truth and standing up for justice and standing up for righteousness and standing up for peace and standing up for freedom. Daddy is now standing on the National Mall in our nations capital."
Lincoln signed the Declaration? Who knew?
Did she mention Daddy plagiarized his Doctoral thesis?
Forget it, she’s rolling.
Alveda appears to have gotten the bulk of the grey matter in the family.
That is when there was only 53 states instead of 57.
Alright now, folks. Let us not act like Liberals, but rather remain civil.
Cue double facepalm. If Martin isn’t rolling in his grave, someone should do it for him.
Lincoln twern’t one of her people.
Sometimes apples fall, roll downhill and into drainage ditches....
Joe Biden watched it on TV.
I’m guessing she meant the Immancipation Declaration or whatever it was.
Al Gore invented the ball point pen that Lincoln used to sign his name!
Put that one right in there with “the astronauts planting a flag on Mars.”
A dumb-ass is a dumb-ass is a dumb-ass.
She jus a nuther igit who’s famous by association.....
Let her rant.... Very funny to keep such up front as icons of the left.
This is why it’s so important to get a good edumucation.
Lincoln couldn’t have signed it online if it weren’t for Al Gore.
Don’t laugh. I’m sure that’s what she remembers him for.
You ever read some of Marty’s quotes (sorry, I meant The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr’s) on our involvement in Vietnam? Wow! Talk about HATING America with all of one’s soul. Yet, the unholy, repulsive disease of leftism is so deep in our blood, I heard Mark Levin of all people say that the statue is “long overdue.” Where’s Madison’s statue on the Mall? Adams’ statue? I’ve heard dozens of callers to talk radio talk of how Marty “believed in the US cons, and capitalism, and freedom, etc. And would be (wait for it) rolling over in his grave at the antics of the civil rights movement today.” Sure he would. You know what he was doing, this great believer in capitalism, in Memphis when he died? Screeching for public unions that had gone on strike.
Uh, maybe public schools taught by tenured union teachers?
The last name "Lincoln" hasn't provided her with a lifetime meal ticket in spite of a total lack of education or ability.
As a side note, given the way King betrayed his family, it's not really surprising that his legitimate achievements and aspirations mean nothing to most of them.
Hey, everyone has gaps in their education. That free public education, is working for her. Today the gap closed just a little. The Democrats will always cover for their own. But we know better and we never forget! Come on 2012.
If it was a prepared speech she had time to review and correct it.
Lincoln was also born in a log cabin he built with his own hands.
Yeah, it sounds stupid. Follow me around for a few hours and I’ll come up with real zingers, too. I just listened to the guy at KSFO tell me that unions were, in his opinion, a good deal for workers at the start of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Unfortunately, when you’re on the radio, you shout your mangled speech to the multitudes. When you’re making a big speech, it’s recorded, and you sometimes jumble words and thoughts. I’m really tired of this kind of shallow critique, frankly, esepcially after it was used to destroy G.W. Bush. Everyone stumbles over their words all the time. Moses had a speech impediment, if I remember correctly. Give it a rest.
However, the accumulated writings and speeches of a person are important. Themes, intellect, and ideology become clear. If your speech is studded with gross errors of fact time after time, if your ideas stated over and over are banal or based on beliefs that bear bad fruit, then by all means it deserves comment. Maybe King’s daughter is a buffoon. Maybe she’s a briliant young woman who had a cold and sleepless night before the speech. I’m giving her a break.
The Black Democrats seem detached from reality,Very detached!
Which I just did, by the way. I was trying to make the point that the guy on the radio stated that unions were important in the 1810s and 1820s... which was not what he meant, but it is what he said. I figured out what he meant anyway. We’re all God’s children, and flawed at that.
An error of this magnitude by a public figure is almost unbelievable. The fact that it is not going to be reported, likewise.
A. Libtard Patti Davis would never say something nice about her father.
2. She would never show up to say anything.
iii. She's too busy supporting abortion and Sodomite rights.
Probably thinks that Samson slew the Finkelsteins.
Exactly. I mean it's a mistake anyone could make. After all, the Declaration was signed, what, 19 (?) years before the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, and quite conceivably, Lincoln could have been there if he didn't have to ride in an open limousine on that fateful day in Dallas. Maybe Bernice had to, excuse me, fart (now illegal in Afghanistan) and couldn't concentrate on the facts of history for a brief moment.
Did Lincoln quit when the Germans attacked Pearl Harbor?
Bet she will not be mocked by the liberal press like Michele Bachman was
Lincoln signed THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION.
I blame the lady’s boo-boo on the public schools, although when THIS lady was in grammar school they still taught a little bit.
The concept I’m sure that she was aiming at was freedom for the slaves, and what popped out when she spoke was the Declaration of INDEPENDENCE.
Or....Dan Quail for misspelling “potato”!
And....Do you remember the time Obama **repeatedly** said, “corpsemen”?
Just another hate America commie.
You were faster this time.
>After Lincoln signed the Declaration of Independence; he went to all 57 states to promote it.<
U bastid, I almost threw up from that LOL
It’s a good thing she is judged not by the content of her mind, but the color of her skin.
....and it’s seared into John Kerry’s memory........
alveda showed up on glenn beck’s show.
The real MLK:
Forget it. She's rolling.
