It's not clear how they know the perp is an African-American.

Thanks The people have spoken.
In the video, the young man wearing a blue T-shirt and a blue cap is mocking the old man, provoking an argument. He is saying bad words repeatedly not only in his native language but also in awkward Korean.

Because he's speaking English ("in his native language") with an American ghetto accent.

the video. Download before it's pulled from youtube.

'Cause, doncha know, only in the U.S. would a black man be subjected to years and generations of institutionalized racism, thereby becoming steeped in quiet, suppressed rage and being forced, against his normally quiet and gentle demeanor, to finally lash out against the injustice heaped upon all of his ethnic group.

Oh, yeah -- < /SARC>

From the video.... he sounds American to me. He also seems to be enjoying tormenting and abusing the people. Just a thought.

In the video, he speaks American black English, and acts "inner city". This is bad. The only reason I can think that such a person would be in Korea would be if he was in, or associated with, the US military.

“... if he was in, or associated with the US military”.

With hair that long? Does the military allow longer hair styles for men? (I truly don’t know the answer but I have only seen the military with short hair)

“if he was in, or associated with, the US military”

Associated at best, maybe he has a Wife in the Service. That haircut, or lack of is decidedly not USA Military issue.

That was my first thought also until I watched the video in which his appearance and demeanor convinces me he is not in or connected with the military.

Was the activity in this video staged?

Just asking.

Absolutely not. No branch of our services would allow hair length that excessive. If that guy is in any way connected to our armed forces it would be as a civilian contractor.

One would hope that he was arrested and handed over to Korean authorities for justice.

People like him are bad enough here but doubly embarrassing representing our country overseas.

That hairy piece of crap has nothing to do with America.

Wherever he is from.

So was the perp arrested? Is Eric Holder going to dispatch lawyers for one of his people?

Because most people are sheep. “I can intervene, possibly get a beating, and spend the evening in the ER, followed by months of expensive medical treatment and legal proceedings, and possibly a divorce after hearing my wife scream ‘why did you have to get involved?’ over and over... or I can look the other way and be enjoying a scotch on my sofa at home in fifteen minutes.” This sort of thinking is typical of the average “man”, in Korea and right here in the USA.

Of course, no real man could stand and watch a feral human such as this terrorize a woman. Going to jail and/or getting beaten senseless are not the worst thing in the world. I’d step in, and let the chips fall where they may.

They were probably shocked at the behavior and who knows why else.

First of all, Asians can be very restrained in their reactions to this sort of thing. Second, the police are the main sources of such intervention and they are not encouraged to take the law into their own hands. Third, they have probably just learned more about our problems that we have to deal with here at home.
