~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Fort Drum, New York
Fort Drum, New York consists of 107,265 acres. Its mission includes command of active component units assigned to the installation, provide administrative and logistical support to tenant units, support to tenant units, support to active and reserve units from all services in training at Fort Drum, and planning and support for the mobilization and training of almost 80,000 troops annually. Fort Drum is home to the 10th Mountain Division.
The division headquarters, 3rd Brigade Combat Team and two Battalion Task Forces from the 4th Brigade Combat Team deployed to Afghanistan in 2006, staying in the country until 2007. The division and brigade served in the eastern region of the country, along the border with Pakistan, fulfilling a similar role as it did during its previous deployment. During this time, the deployment of the brigade was extended along with that of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, however, it was eventually replaced by the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team which was rerouted from Iraq.
After a one-year rest, the headquarters of the 10th Mountain Division was deployed to Iraq for the first time in April 2008. The division headquarters served as the command element for southern Baghdad, while the 4th BCT operated in Northeast Baghdad under the 4th Infantry Division headquarters from November 2007 until January 2009. The 10th Mountain participated in larger scale operations such as Operation Phantom Phoenix.
The 3rd Brigade Combat Team was slated to deploy to Iraq in 2009, but that deployment was rerouted. In January 2009, the 3rd BCT instead deployed to Logar and Wardak, eastern Afghanistan to relieve the 101st Airborne Division, as part of a new buildup of US forces in that country. The brigade was responsible for expanding Forward Operating Bases in the region, as well as strengthening US military presence in the region in preparation for additional US forces to arrive.
The 2nd Brigade Combat Team is scheduled to deploy to Iraq in the fall of 2009, as a part of the 2009-2010 rotation to Iraq. The 1st Brigade Combat Team is scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan in early spring 2010. The Army is currently expanding housing at Fort Drum, hoping to relocate the home base of the 4th Brigade Combat Team from Fort Polk to Fort Drum before 2013. Learn More About Fort Drum HERE!

Hello from Idaho!
*hugs*
Had a nice storm last night/ this morning. Brought some much needed rain and no fires.
God Bless Our Troops!
Went to town yesterday saw black bear, moose and 9 deer.
Fredd didn’t see the moose or bear, did see the deer. I always roll up the window when that happens! He jumped out once already when I first got him. The town turkey may not be around anymore because of that! In hiding from now on!

Yeah I’ve seen that. Bad heat for sure. Oddly enough, been cooler here than normal with no 100 degree days in August.
Still enjoying it, got some landscaping done but not as much as I’d like. I’ve still got sand as my yard, but it is leveled and weed free.
To: LUV W
Evening Luvvy!
No taunting meant..we Oregonians love our coolish summers and when the temps get to 90+, we just melt, we aint used to it!!
Hope you guys get some rain soon!

Christ Living In Us
August 30, 2011
The Ironman Triathlon consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run. It is not an easy feat for anyone to accomplish. But Dick Hoyt participated in the race and completed it with his physically disabled son Rick. When Dick swam, he pulled Rick in a small boat. When Dick cycled, Rick was in a seat-pod on the bike. When Dick ran, he pushed Rick along in a wheelchair. Rick was dependent on his dad in order to finish the race. He couldnt do it without him.
We see a parallel between their story and our own Christian life. Just as Rick was dependent on his dad, we are dependent on Christ to complete our Christian race.
As we strive to live a God-pleasing life, we realize that in spite of our best intentions and determination, we often stumble and fall short. By our strength alone, it is impossible. Oh, how we need the Lords help! And it has been provided. Paul declares it with these insightful words, It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God (Gal. 2:20).
We cannot finish the Christian race on our own. We have to do so by depending on Jesus living in us.
With longing all my heart is filled
That like Him I may be,
As on the wondrous thought I dwell,
That Christ liveth in me. Whittle
Faith connects our weakness to Gods strength.
Read: Galatians 2:15-21
I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness.
2 Timothy 4:7-8

The Pine Camp POW camp was opened February 1944 and closed May 1946. A total of 976 German POWs were housed there. Chits in 1 and 5 cent denominations were issued. The 1209 S.C.U. camp was also located there.

Yikes! That is pretty steep for a yard. Just plop some cactuses into the sand, call it zeroscaping and you’ll win prizes. :)
I’ll bet the indoors is looking good, though. Are you enjoying
being retired? Or are you working harder than ever, like most “retirees”?
