The IDF has conducted detailed work to determine a “red line” for each settlement in the West Bank, which will determine when soldiers will be ordered to shoot at the feet of Palestinian protesters if the line is crossed. It is also arming settlers with tear gas and stun grenades as part of the defense operation.
The IDF is currently in the process of finalizing its preparations for Operation Summer Seeds, whose purpose is to ready the army for September and the possibility of confrontations with Palestinians following the expected vote in favor of Palestinian statehood at the UN General Assembly.

Coming from Haaretz, I have serious questions about the veracity of the news. However, if the IDF is arming the settlers, would the author be happier having the Palestinians massacre the settlers?
I hope the Israelis have the supplies to last through Jan of 2013. This Administration will give less aid than they gave the Libyan rebels.
I’m also sure our vote at the UN will properly reflect the wishes of the American people. I pray God’s blessings upon Israel and the US until we can replace this Administration.

If you are using a high powered rifle against a large crowd on rocky ground, aiming at their feet will cause more hits than aiming directly at them.

If every Israeli settler takes out 20 “Palestinian” rioter then the problem should be resolved quickly.

Back in the day, you never saw a settler without either an Uzi or an M1 Carbine slung over their shoulder.

An uzi is a great weapon for clearing trenches or rooms but for anything beyond 50 meters range you need a rifle .
Give them .30 carbines or old school sks carbines good to 200 yards. It would stop the riot in short order. however since the govt. doesn’t trust the citizenry it won’t happen.
it should not be for a government to trust it’s citizenry , but for a citizenry to trust their government .

If there were no Jewish people in Israel, but westerners, French, Gemans, Swedish, Poles, etc. the aabs would still be opposed to Israel.
