The IDF has conducted detailed work to determine a red line for each settlement in the West Bank, which will determine when soldiers will be ordered to shoot at the feet of Palestinian protesters if the line is crossed. It is also arming settlers with tear gas and stun grenades as part of the defense operation.
The IDF is currently in the process of finalizing its preparations for Operation Summer Seeds, whose purpose is to ready the army for September and the possibility of confrontations with Palestinians following the expected vote in favor of Palestinian statehood at the UN General Assembly.

The meeting will open at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday 22 September in the General Assembly hall at United Nations headquarters in New York. A short ceremonial opening will be followed by two consecutive round tables from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A closing plenary session will take place from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where summaries of the round table discussions will be presented. The plenary is then expected to adopt a short and concise political declaration.

They were primarily a personal defense weapon for women soldiers working in clerical or other non-combat positions, as a favored attack method of arabs is to go shoot up hospitals, offices, or other softer targets.
It’s small, packs a decent punch, but is a REMF weapon.
I’ve never understood why they garnered the reputation they have.
