WI Unions Try to Ban GOP from Labor Day Parade; Mayor Says Pound Sand (Video)
Breitbart TV ^ | 8/29/11 | staff

Wausau Mayor Jim Tipple:

"The banning of a political party from participation at any event co-sponsored by the City is against public policy and not in the best interest of all the citizens of the City of Wausau. And therefore, we encourage the event organizer to invite all interested parties, or reimburse the city for other costs."

Big Deal. Now they can have their picnic at home with family like the rest of us. Who wants to go to a parade anyway. I find them boring.

Excellent update.

Is this any of your doing, LibertyRocks? Is the mayor a Dem?

The union thugs are probably PO’d that the GOP guys don’t know how to goosestep and none of them own a pair of jackboots and brownshirt.

Interesting development in the Sean Duffy/Wausau Labor Day parade ping.

Labor Day— a day for the leeches of society to celebrate the dumb working louses who pay the taxes that support those leeches,...

I’m actually surprised Mayor Tipple took such a strong stand. I don’t live in Wausau, but close enough to be aware of city politics. I was under the impression Tipple kind of wimpish.

LoL, I love watching these Dumbasses step in it time after time. They aren’t doing anything if they aren’t embarrassing themselves.

When I was a kid the rodeo came to town for four days and started things off with a parade organized by all the riding clubs in the Southeast Arkansas area. I liked it then but haven’t cared much for them since even though I have lived in a Parade Happy city, Chicago, ever since then.

Labor Day and MLK Day - bah humbug!

Thomas Jefferson and Ronald Reagan are infinitely more deserving of recognition.

It’s the principle, most conservatives probably would not want to go, but being forbidden to exercise their RIGHT to free speech is intolerable.

With an election coming up name recognition becomes important, almost any public event is an opportunity to connect the face with the name.

Just because it’s a “Labor Day” parade does not mean conservative messages, and fiscal responsibility cannot be displayed.

I doubt that more than a handful attending care more about “Organized Labor” than getting a three day holiday.

I’m sure there will be plenty of red clothes and flags all along the way!

IMHO, I don’t think cities or States should sponsor anything that would cost the taxpayer money. Anyone wanting to put on a Parade should have to pay for police, fire, or any other city service required for the event.

No, I’m afraid I’m homebound with some sort of stomach flu. I just ran across and commented on a different article that I will ping you to right after I actually go read the article I’m replying to your post on! LOL

WOW!!! I’m actually rather impressed. I wish I could take some credit for this, but as I said I was stuck at home today and couldn’t make it over to city hall! Perhaps just the THREAT of a resident coming to check the facts was enough??? I do know that Rep. Duffy’s people have been talking to people here though...

Whoever WSAW contacted as a spokesperson for the city should be reprimanded for LYING about the town co-sponsoring. I was under them impression they were not (or at least were trying to say they weren’t).

This is a very interesting change! I do know that Mayor Tipple was BOMBARDED by emails from the local Tea Party - perhaps that was enough???

Thanks so much for the ping.. Now I’ve got to go and link this article to the thread I posted on with “old info.” a moment ago! LOL

This article represents a major change in the game here in Wausau as compared to the story currently in the Breaking News Sidebar. Perhaps it would be prudent to post this in the Breaking News section as well — so that people are aware of how drastically the info. has changed? Thanks for your consideration.

Hope you’re feeling better today.

I’m actually hoping the unions stick to their decision. It would warm the cockles of my heart to have them forced to pay for the insurance, city services (police/fire) and construction of the stage. The bad PR they are generating just makes it that much sweeter!
