NBC's Lauer to Cheney: You're the 'Most Divisive Political Figure in This Country in a Century'
Newsbuster ^ | 8/30/11 | Kyle Drennen

On Tuesday's NBC Today, co-host Matt Lauer began a hostile interview with Dick Cheney by running through various derisive labels for the former Vice President: "You've been called 'controversial' and 'divisive.' Some people have called you the most divisive political figure in this country in a century." Cheney simply quipped: "You left out Darth Vader." Later, Lauer interrogated Cheney on interrogation tactics used on terror suspects: "If an American citizen were to be taken into captivity in Iran, for example, and the government of Iran....Would it be okay for the Iranian government to waterboard that American citizen?"

Oops, dropped an angle bracket... I used to watch that doctor-in-the-Hamptons show, but they've been
been moonbatting the show for a while.

Working Lauer into an epi was the final straw.

Lauer's a minor reason I try not to watch the olympics on NBC.

The more important question is why would any Republican, much less a conservative Republican, even bother to talk to these yahoos?

It would be very easy, very inexpensive, and probably hit a much wider audience, were Cheney to do an Internet interview with a respectful and objective interviewer.

Give it to Matt Drudge as an exclusive, and it will get millions of hits.

Not only would Cheney get a real say, but he could go into depth with his answers, without having some cheeseball like Lauer insult him, and there would be no “instant rebuttal” by the MSM and the left to what he had just said.

And the best part, the interview could be copyrighted, so the producer could DMCA the MSM, when they swiped it. Which they would.

LAUER: Enhanced interrogation techniques: In your book, you state bluntly you have no regrets about being in favor of things like waterboarding – I think you say even if circumstances were the same today you’d make the same decisions....If an American citizen were to be taken into captivity in Iran, for example, and the government of Iran were to look at that person and say, ‘We think you’re a spy for the U.S. or you’re here to carry out a covert operation. Would it be okay for the Iranian government to waterboard that American citizen?

My answer would have been:
If that American citizen was a man who was the self-admitted mastermind of killing over 3000 Iranians for no reason and had plans in place to kill 1000’s more they would have that right.

They sure are Royal Pains, aren’t they? I actually avoid the network until the 10pm show comes on, but if that keeps focusing on TJ, then I may blow that one off too.

The day that Dick Cheney has to worry about crossing swords with serial philanderer Matt Lauer is the day we will need to arm ourselves against 2 month old kittens.

How convenient that Lauer forgot that no one was more "divisive" (i.e. hated) to the commie-Libs than Nixon, w/ Reagan a very close second.

“Why does this network and its personnel insist on insulting the opposition? What do they gain by it? “

Maybe because it riles US up, the conservative base, far better than our own media is capable of doing? I’ll probably put windows out now, by burning rubber to go buy his book!

Of course, selling something is the ONLY reason to appear on these meat grinder instruments hacking for the administration.

If you are among the growing ranks of those who don't like 0bama - it is because you are a racist hater.

If you are among the hardcore left who still cannot let go of your hatred for a man who held very little actual power three years ago - it is because Cheny is “divisive”.

...and there it is: if the left doesn’t like you, you’re divisive at best and a bumbling, nasty idiot at worst.

Didn't know Matt Lauer was still around. Last time I watched him was the mid 90’s with perky Katie.

An even bigger question is why would former VP Cheney grant an interview to the likes of Lauer?

He wanted to see Lauer's head explode.

They wish.
An American in Iran is more likely to be beaten raped and tortured in ways Lauer could not imagine......

For Cheney, going on the Today Show is like going on "Kids Are People Too!" or "Wonderama" in the seventies.

It's a chance to reach out to the juvenile minds who host and/or watch shows like this, to try to simplify certain concepts and educate them in the hopes that one or two will overachieve by understanding him.

Simpleton outreach.

Funny how Lauer likes to play ‘journalist’. I would say stick to the day job, but isn’t he leaving Today?
