Last week, the Almighty expressed His displeasure over Paul Ryan's decision not to run for president by sending us an earthquake and a storm. But Ryan still refuses to reconsider. So we at THE WEEKLY STANDARD have put dreams of Ryan-Rubio 2012 on hold, and have turned our attention to other possible GOP tickets.
As Michael Warren pointed out earlier today, Rick Perry now seems to be the Republican frontrunner. Who might his running mate be? Obvious possibilities are Ryan or Rubioor Mitch Daniels (a successful Midwestern governor who's not part of the mess in D.C. but who could reassure some voters with his serious federal government experience). But this news story suggests someone else Perry would surely want to consider: New Mexico governor Susana Martinez.

“That would work, they have exchanged gifts. I just wonder what position algore would get.”
Gore his prize would be the EPA.
RE: Uh, NO.
Well, don’t just stop there, tell us why...
Then why not Perry and Hugo Chavez?
i’m sick and tired of the propaganda WRT the “size” of the purported latino vote.
Latinos are known to use multiple identities........for riding the US gravy train.
The Washingtin state rapist had 30 identities.....all included in the phony vote count. Course he wont be casting even one vote from jail.
Another latino collected $3 million in UI benefits before he was charged with multiple ID frauds.
God knows how many phony id’s voted for Perrynista.......WITH his knowledge and consent.
RE: Hugo Chavez?
Because Susana Martinez is to Hugo Chavez as Sarah Palin is to Ken Livingston of London.
What does she say about amnesty for illegals? Strange that that issue isn't mentioned and I didn't see it at the link.
Make a note, my FRiends. RINO Mitt Perry supporters love to point to Perry's "On The Issues" webpage and they'll tell us how conservative RINO Mitt Perry is based on that page.
They'll even post this chart to prove, in their minds, that Ricardo Perry is more conservative than Sarah Palin.
But you'll notice that when it comes to their man, RINO Mitt Perry, his "On The Issues" page conveniently omits any mention that he favors amnesty, or that he advocated for instate tuition for ILLEGAL aliens, or that he opposed the border fence and he opposed Arizona's SB1070.
When it comes to immigration, not a single negative is mentioned for RINO Mitt Perry.
Looks to me like you’re just going for diversitah.
RE: Looks to me like youre just going for diversitah.
If I did, would I be doing post #18 above?
And/or an overt advocation for pro-ILLEGAL alien candidate RINO Mitt Perry.

Absolutely!
Martinez is great but Perry/Martinez too much Southwest on the menu.
So utterly sick of the ethnic pandering by the GOP. It doesn’t work! Conservatism, yes, THAT works.
Here we go again.
If Perry's consistent support for a temporary, 2 year guest worker program without citizenship is "amnesty," then Sarah Palin's support for of a worker program for the illegals already here is also amnesty.
Those trolling, ostensibly as Palin supporters, might try to hide behind McCain when it comes to statements made during the 2008 campaign but they can't avoid what she said only last year on O'Reilly when unemployment was 9.6%.
In a December 2006 editorial, Gov. Perry wrote (emphasis mine):
"I would rather know who is crossing our border legally to work instead of not knowing who is crossing our border illegally to work. A guest worker program that provides foreign workers with an ID removes the incentive for millions of people to illegally enter our country. It also adds those workers to our tax base, generates revenue for needed social services and it can be done without providing citizenship."
and
"Along with millions of Americans, I think it is wrong to reward those who broke our laws with citizenship ahead of those who have followed the law and are waiting to enter this country legally. And like millions of Americans I do not support amnesty."
I don't really know anything about Gov. Martinez. However, at this point, I'd look on any suggestion from the establishment neocon Bill Kristol with great skepticism.
Pay No Attention to That Amnesty Supporter Behind the Curtain!
You can believe and defend him as all Perry worshipers do but I recognize the language of an amnesty supporter; we've seen it before in both Jorge Bush and Juan McCain. That, combined with his record of being pro-ILLEGAL alien makes him 100% unbelievable on the issue.
Oh, and RINO Mitt Perry also wants to give citizenship/amnesty to ILLEGAL aliens who 'serve in the US military', something that is currently unlawful. But that's probably okay by you because, in the mind of a RINO Mitt Perry supporter RINO Mitt Perry can do no wrong.
Enlistment into the U.S. Navy, or any branch of the U.S. military, by citizens of countries other than the United States is limited to those foreign nationals who are legally residing in the United States and possess an Immigration and Naturalization Service Alien Registration Card (INS Form I-151/551 commonly known as a "Green Card"). Applicants must be between 17 and 35; meet the mental, moral, and physical standards for enlistment; and must speak, read and write English fluently.
Note: The U.S. military branches cannot assist foreign nationals in obtaining admittance into the United States. Questions concerning immigration to the United States should be asked of the U.S. Embassy. Only after immigration procedures are completed and an applicant is legally residing in the United States may an application for enlistment be accepted.
Eggs-actly.
Like Ronald Reagan once said:
"The Republican Party cannot be all things to all people."Natch he meant the real GOP, of conservative values. Not the Karl Rove, pander to all variety.
Karl Rove’s pander-to-all variety is nauseating......but Perry on all fours sucking up to illegals is even more disgusting.
