Gaddafi's son 'ready to surrender'
Al Jazeera ^ | August 30, 2011 | James Bays

Posted on 08/30/2011 3:20:43 PM PDT by Cardhu

The rebel military leader of Tripoli, Abdelhakim Belhaj, has said that one of Gaddafi's son al Saddi called him two hours ago and asked if he can surrender.

Al Jazzera's James Bays, reporting from Tripoli said: “We asked him [Abdelhakim Belhaj] about the military situation, remaining members of the Gaddafi family, and he said that he believes one of Gaddafi's sons, al Saddi, is preparing to surrender.

"According to Belhaj, Saddi doesn't want to leave Libya, he wants to talk to the national council and negotiate his surrender. He thinks he knows the whereabouts of Saddi Gaddafi from the phone call. Also says he believes some senior figures of the government are now ready to surrender, such as the former prime minister.

"Belhaj made a point of saying that any of those who do surrender will be treated properly, and court cases will be held to international norms. Belhaj thought that Muammar Gaddafi is less likely to surrender, but would be treated fairly if he did. He would be held in custody with proper human rights. The rest of the family are taking temporary refuge in Algeria before they go to some third country.”

Gaddafi family members flee

Earlier on Monday, some members of Gaddafi's family had fled the country and gone to Algeria.

Authorities there confirmed on Tuesday that Gaddafi's second wife Safia, his daughter Aisha, and his sons Muhammad and Hannibal were in Algeria and had been granted permission to enter based on "humanitarian grounds".

According to AFP news agency, Aisha gave birth to a girl while in Algeria.

Mahmoud Shammam, information minister in Libya's rebel government, told the Associated Press news agency that he considered Algeria's harbouring of Hannibal an act of aggression.

If he surrenders, he’s dead.

I do not think that this particular son, al Saddi, is wanted by the ICC. But he does mention that apart from the Prime Minister other top officials also want to surrender.

It’s clear you can’t believe anything you hear out of Libya. Not from Ghaddafi or his people, not from the rebels.

I have a hard time believing Aljareeza reporting after they faked the whole takover of Qhadafi’s compound, and their reporter Hajj was the guy that called for outside insurgents after Qhadafi had appeased the real Libyan protesters with $20 billion in new housing.

This whole think stinks of Aljareeza and al Qaeda, and the installation of the Mozlem Brotherhood’s caliphate. Just like Egypt, Yemin, and now Syria, et al.

So Hannibal is being protected by . . . Carthage? Those Libyan rebels better watch out for those elephants.

Al Jazeera did not fake that at all it was photo shopped - do really think that anyone would go to the trouble to make a fake set and fill it with people to show on the same day that the demonstration in Green Square took place.

Apparently here on FR there are some.

Actually they showed the interview with the rebel military leader of Tripoli, Abdelhakim Belhaj. They are reporting what he said.

I see a strange similarity between the rebel leadership and the writers for Saturday Night Live ... during the really bad years.

I tend to agree with you - both sides lie like rugs but in this case at about the same time that this was reported to have taken place co incidentally the acting PM of council let it be known that they knew where Gaddafi was.

It seemed rather silly to say that if they really knew but it makes sense if they had traced the phone call and thus got an idea that Gadaffi could be in that general area too.

They can ‘say’ all they want. The bottom line is Obama is promoting Islamic radicalism, he’s in for the cause. This is his mission, normalize Islam. All this ‘arab’ spring crap is crap. We all know it.

Great. One more region for radical Islamism to gain a foot hold. Mummie was a tyrannical dick, but at least it was confined to his own country, other than TWA 800. What's coming is going to be much worse for Western civilization.

I am little educated, but worldly astute. Mark my words: The Arab Spring is going to bring horrific results. Name your Arab overthrow...and Israel will experience the repercussions. Israel will not go there again. It may take some major incursion or enough missles lobbed, but she will not go silently into the good night. And the World will suffer...because of some stupid ancient obscene belief that Israel should not exist.

Here's a new clue for you who don't follow this: AZTLAN is promoting the violent over-throw of the Southwest of the USA. Very similar to the so-called Palistians claim to Israel lands. Do some research.

That's bad enough...but you consider also that they don't believe each other either.....their religion allows and encourages deception and outright lies if it will protect or hide them.

They are more than taught to not use critical thinking....it's drummed out of them by whatever means is available.....which is why communicating with them is such a frustration...nothing ever is what it appears....nor to them does it need to be....then add in they are at war for their very survival....

Think of how children behave when cornered or in deep crap....that's exactly what dealing with these characters is like.

Surrendering to this jihadi junta now in charge in Libya will result in the swift removal of his head.

Well, from the first article I read he sounds like a very mixed bag. As a soccer player got into trouble by failing a drug test. Wanted to build an international city between Tripoli and Tunisia border with religious tolerance including churches and synagogues. Was with his brother Khamis in Special Forces. They found gay porn in his quarters when it was entered this week. Oh, boy, what next??

Many roles for al Saddi. The interviews were complete opposites from the brothers (regarding post at other link). Guess this was to be expected. Aisha maybe is the key to understanding why the interview was played by the brothers in this manner. She (Aisha) could be one of the heads on this two headed snake with her father? Unknown, but would not surprise. Confusion is another key to turn in war. Do not know if she (Aisha) is a master, though the key of confusion has been turned ... imho
