As MAD Magazine pointed out long ago, mayors tour no-go zones of the city with an army of police and declare the area 'perfectly safe.'

Is it asking too much for these idiots to use punctuation? I read the headline five times trying to make sense of “4 teens shot in HUD area chief”.
God only knows how someone could be shot in their “HUD area chief”.
Reminds me of a headline “college students turning to vegetables.” It was about their choice of foods.
That’s a good one, too!
All they are missing in Chicago are the IEDs to finally bring Afghanistan to the area...
Maye they could actually try to enforce the Illinois and Chicago gun laws against the gang bangers, instead of going after law abiding citizens.

As to the "blighted neighborhood", the only way to "revitalize" it is with Carpet Bombing!
Like the article says that area is the home of the Blackstone Rangers and those maggots go back to the mid 1960's. That was the first
black street gang I heard of on the South Side, it was 1966. The only 'famous' black street gang in Chicago then was the Vice Lords and they were on the West Side.
So Woodlawn has been "blighted" for Forty-Five years at the least, and 'prolly' decades longer. And if it hasn't been fixed in all that time by the gazillions of 'gubmint money' spent there, it's hopeless.
Just level the Woodlawn area and start over.
