Marsh Fires And Smoke Push New Orleans Into A State Of Emergency
Aug. 31, 2011, 8:52 AM
A second swamp fire outside New Orleans has filled the city with smoke, prompting Mayor Mitch Landrieu to declare an emergency and call in the National Guard.
According to The Washington Post, the smoke that's been hazing downtown for days is getting worse and to contain the blaze, the four helicopters dropping water will be joined by five more Wednesday.
The National Weather Service reports haze from the fire is reported as far west as Baton Rouge and its smoke alert is expanded from New Orleans and six local parishes to towns 100 miles from the city.
The fire has consumed about 1,000 acres and continues to spread.

This is just a marsh fire, blam. No failure of federal structures or programs. No lives or property at risk. The LA Guard is dropping water from Blackhawks as a token gesture so mayor Landrieu won’t appear to be doing nothing at all. In truth these fires will continue till the rains return, probably this weekend.
Let it burn. When will the residents get a $2500 visa gift card to spend at the casino?
Exactly. Mayor Mitch Landrieu will plead to Obama via LA Senator Mary Landrieu and she will get boatloads of money which will arrive about a week after the smoke has cleared naturally. Then some parlour chair rearranging will occur billed against those tax dollars. It’s the Landrieu Way. Moon taught em well.
Will “looter guy” make another appearance?
Perhaps they will become “bog fires” and have to burn themselves out when the detritus is consumed - that means all.
“Barack Obama doesn’t care about black people.”
More reparations on the way!
BTW, isn’t this what Beijing looks like every day?
LET IT BURN
