WASHINGTON -- The White House is making it easier for people to press the federal government to act.

It is bringing that age-old constitutional right to petition one's government into the digital age with a new webpage, "We the People," where members of the public will be able to create and sign petitions seeking the government's action on a range of issues.

Overwhelm the system.

That's the only plan.

Oh, great...now the paid union and MoveOn.org thugs can overwhelm Obie's pet petitions with their fake signatures and get "action" on his agenda items.

Pathetic.

GOP....paging GOP!! Isn't this what our elected representatives are for????

The White House phishing for the names and addresses of potential ‘RAT “voters”. Sign one of these petitions and Barry’s union thugs will be pounding on your door “within 30 days”.

“Might wanna get a throwaway email and IP address first.”

Good plan. I seem to remember reading here a while ago that any communication with the WH is tracked and kept. I imagine that it will be one way Hussein will know who to come for first.

And what are they going to do to the names and/or computers of the people who sign a petition? Is this just a Janet Napolitano attempt to get “terrorist” small-government people to turn themselves in to her office so we can be monitored and harassed?

My petitions:

Fire Eric Holder and have him investigated and tried for treason.

Fire Sotomayor and Kagan and have them both investigated and tried for treason. These gals both know Obama is an enemy combatant who got into the White House through forgery and perjury. They’ve been covering his behind in SCOTUS, which is treason - giving aid and comfort to a known enemy of the USA.

An official response is guaranteed for any petition that draws enough signatures -- 5,000 names within 30 days -- after it is reviewed by staff and the appropriate policy experts within the administration, according to White House officials who previewed the details for The Associated Press.

So, I guess a 5000 signature Freeper petition for Obama's resignation wont make the cut.

Yep. And post from a Library or somewhere else. This is more like a “Post your conservative petition or grievance and get a free IRS audit” website..

I understand a throwaway email address but what is an IP address? And, after you are finished or want to get rid of your throwaway stuff, how do you do it? I’m not 100% computer savy:-(

It's just a ploy to collect the names of Bitter Clingers and other dissenters so they can be dealt with later.

We’ve had this system of e-petitions here in the UK for a few years now. The previous new Labour socialists introduced it to try to make themselves look democratic but then ignored every petition. The new coalition have changed the rules so any petition exceeding 100,000 signatures has to be passed to the parliamentary committee for debate in the House of Commons.

If the US system doesn’t have this last bit included, it’ll be about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Its just more of the same old Obama. He’s already done this sort of thing in other forms with zero results. (aside for fooling a handful of morons into thinking he really cares what they think)

A simple two word petition for redress of grievances...”Shrink Thyself”

But no way in hell I’d post is on a government run “suggestion box.”
