Texas Gov. Rick Perry may be surging in polls of Republican primary voters, but his party's Insiders aren't convinced he'd be the best general election candidate. More than two-thirds of Republican Insiders say Mitt Romney has a better chance than Perry of defeating President Obama in 2012, according to this week's National Journal Political Insiders Poll.

Bullcrap
The ‘Insiders’ are the clowns who got us into the mess we’re in.
F the “party insiders”.
It’s “WE THE PEOPLE” who elect our government reps. NOT party insiders.
Insiders must be idiots or they’re trying reverse psychology because you couldn’t find two more similar candidates. Even their candidacies are intermarried.
I could hold my nose with a clothespin and vote for Willard but that is the only way.
no thank you.
if romney’s the candidate,
i’m not voting.
Time for the “insiders” to become “outsiders” and for mainstream Americans to run the GOP.
Didn’t these idiots foist McCain on us?
If by “insiders” they mean the GOP establishment elite then whatever. They don’t get to decide our nominee, the People will.
I don’t give a damn what these “insiders” think.
Is this the ‘Joke of the Day’ ?
The insiders picked Romney the day they gave the 2008 nomination to McCain. It’s his turn.
Ya, but at least with Romney we’ll have a choice until we figure out which side of his mouth he’s talking.
“More than two-thirds of Republican Insiders say Mitt Romney has a better chance than Perry of defeating President Obama in 2012,”
This is how we got McCain.
And Romney said - thanks, I’ll be back to collect on that promise in 8 years (but probably 4).
Insiders are very anxious for us to lose.
Go PALIN !
Insiders: Lets just re-run McCain.
And the insiders are:
Republicans: Dan Allen, Stan Anderson, Gary Andres, Saulius (Saul) Anuzis, Rich Ashooh, Whit Ayres, Brett Bader, Mitch Bainwol, Brian Baker, Gary Bauer, David Beckwith, Paul Bennecke, Clark Benson, Wayne Berman, Brian Bieron, Charlie Black, Kirk Blalock, Carmine Boal, Jeff Boeyink, Ron Bonjean, Jeff Buley, Luke Byars, Nick Calio, Al Cardenas, Danny Carroll, Alex Castellanos, Ron Christie, Jim Cicconi, Jonathan Collegio, Rob Collins, Cesar Conda, Jake Corman, Scott Cottington, Jay Cranford, Greg Crist, Diane Crookham-Johnson, Fergus Cullen, Tom Davis, Mike Dennehy, Ken Duberstein, Debi Durham, Sara Fagen, Frank Fahrenkopf, John Feehery, Don Fierce, Mindy Finn, Mindy Fletcher, Carl Forti, Alex Gage, Bruce A. Perry beating Obama in Florida (Magellan Data - Aug, 2011)
Perry only GOP candidate beating Obama. Up by three points (Rasmussen - Sept, 2011)
Overwhelming stench of RINO there.
“Bullcrap”
This is the same crap they told us that got us McShame. One word.....Romneycare. The base will never turn out for Romney.
Let them come out of the shadows...for all to see!!
NO WAY!!
Exactly, the GOP insiders can go screw themselves.
Who are the insiders?
With few exceptions, male political “insiders” are metrosexuals. That’s why they relate to Romney, not Perry. Then project their personal feelings onto the electorate.
This should prove to the naysayers that he’s an establishment candidate.
And GOP “insiders” thought Gerald Ford was more electable than Ronald Reagan.
This should prove to the naysayers that he’s not an establishment candidate.
I will walk barefoot on broken glass, walk through bed of burning coals, swim through a moat full of hungry alligators, to vote against Obama.
It certainly won't be OK, or TX....considering how the primaries work.
It will be a done deal by then.....
And THAT'S how we got Dole, and McCain!!!
SCREW the party insiders!
They are the biggest problem we have next to dimocrats!
What is your source?
Huh?
And Bob Dole.
Yes, you'll still be voting--for obammy.
Incidentally Rove backed RINO Kay Hutchison over Perry for governor. So when we see him attacking Perry, it's because he realizes that under a Perry admin, his attempted visits to the Whitehouse will likely end like this:
Oh dang, the Ron Paul-tards who constantly rip Rick Perry here cannot accuse Rick Perry of being an insider.
If “insiders” are the same as “RINOs”, then of course THEY might be “better off” with Romney as the candidate. Chances are, that Romney could pull off a win, but at the cost of the Congressional and Senate elections taking place simultaneously.
A solid Conservative, who will not run away from the tough decisions on cutting the budget deficit and closing the gap without borrowing, will by the sheer audacity of staking out the path we shall have to follow, pull along a sizeable number of like-minded members of the legislative branch as well.
Romney cannot be relied upon to deliver the message, nor to follow through with the necessary reforms if he does succeed in securing the job as President.
Peggy Noonan, Carl Rove, Newt Gingrich, Orrin Hatch
Yes, you'll still be voting--for obammy. Then that would be a problem for the insider dimwits to consider before, or they'll have to deal with the consequences after...again.
The “GOP insiders” might be better off with Romney but the rest of us won’t be!
“Better off” translation: Will be a gracious loser to the Punk, just like Juan McCain!
Insiders?
Name them.
so we can beat some sense into them...
There is really very little difference in either one. You can keep them both.
So the ‘insiders’ like Romney? All the more reason to support Perry! The ‘insider’ are the people who got this country into the mesws it’s in! Screw them!!
So what? It may just mean that Myth could get about 350 electoral votes, including Michigan and NH, and Perry only 325 or so. All you need is 270.
