Texas Gov. Rick Perry may be surging in polls of Republican primary voters, but his party's Insiders aren't convinced he'd be the best general election candidate. More than two-thirds of Republican Insiders say Mitt Romney has a better chance than Perry of defeating President Obama in 2012, according to this week's National Journal Political Insiders Poll.

These party insiders are the same bozos who preferred McCain. They’re a bunch of stealth liberals.

The same ‘insiders’ that helped get McLame into the nomination....if you ever see one of these ‘insiders’ bash their head in (figuratively, I mean - I don’t condone or advocate violence - my lawyer makes me say this) .

The establishment wanted Poppy Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush, and Juan McCain ... now it wants Flip Romney. Are you kidding?

Do you want Dole 2.0?

k21: no thank you. if romney’s the candidate, i’m not voting. Italian herb: Yes, you'll still be voting--for obammy.

And if YOU vote for Romney, you'll be voting for the same strain of statism as anyone who votes for Obama.

And if Romney won, guess which political party would forever get the blame for the statism and massive growth of government that Romey WOULD implement? Guess how many more millions of Americans would become so cynical about voting ("There's not a dime's bit of difference between Democrats and Republicans") that they would cease voting altogether? Guess how many people who, as they got older and wiser and sought a political party that stood for limited government, would have nowhere to turn because the Republican party failed them and failed America because of stupid "pragmatism" of the type you counsel (and which I USED to counsel) here?

And GUESS how much more socialist/communist/nightmarish the NEXT Democrat president would be after four or eight years of Romney? We thought Clinton was bad? After Bush, we got Obama. In California, we thought Gray Davis was bad? After Schwarzenegger we got Jerry Brown!

THINK, don't kneejerk, THINK IT THROUGH. What you advise is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

The ONLY way to stop the advance of statism in America is to decine to vote for statists, regardless of their party affiliation. PERIOD.

Voting for a statist Republican is worse than allowing a statist Democrat to win. There's enough evidence to bear it out. So when you come on FR urging people to vote for a statist just because that statist is a Republican -- well, you're as much an enemy (though a well-meaning and unwitting one) of America as Obama.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you. In another time, what you said would hold some merit. This is not ordinary times. The person presently occupying the WH is (IMHO) out to destroy this country and all it stands for.

Romney doesn’t have that on his agenda.

It would be another “hold your nose” vote for me, but at this point in out history, my vote will be for anybody but obama.

I think the future of this country as we know it hangs in the balance.

Republican Insiders? Are these the bozos that gave us Dead Dole and John McPain? Fricken losers that want us to lose 2012 and let Omama ruin our USA.

By the "insiders" lingo, are they referring to those who gave us McCain, or might it even be McCain's staff "insiders,"

The "insiders" could also refer to those who continue to fund such GOP luminaries such as Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe or the other "moderates" that detest TEA Party folk.

And be worse off after 2012.

If the only thing that mattered was getting elected, I too would vote for Romney in the primary. But it’s not the only thing and I won’t. I might not even in the general election.
