Rick Perry's campaign just responded to the attack ad that a pro-Michele Bachmann super PAC unveiled last night, which it is airing in South Carolina, and which hits him on his spending record as Texas governor:
Gov. Perry is a proven fiscal conservative, having cut taxes, signed six balanced budgets, and led Texas to become Americas top job-creating state, said Ray Sullivan, RickPerry.orgs communications director. Congresswoman Bachmanns front-group ad is patently and provably false. Unlike Washington, the Texas budget is balanced, does not run deficits and limits spending, even as Texas added jobs and population in big numbers.

FALSE CLAIM: “Rick Perry doubled spending in a decade.”
TRUTH: State spending – the non-federal dollars state lawmakers can control – is six percent lower under Gov. Perry than it was under the two-year budget in effect when he took office, adjusting for population growth and inflation. In unadjusted amounts, state spending is $80.5 billion for the 2012-13 biennium compared to $55.7 billion for the 2000-01 biennium. Texas’ population growth plus inflation since 2001 is 54 percent. The current Texas budget funds the state’s vital needs by operating within available revenues and providing tax cuts for small businesses. Gov. Perry is the only Texas governor since World War II to cut state (general revenue) spending.
FALSE CLAIM: “This year, Rick Perry is spending more money than the state takes in.”
TRUTH: Texas’ budget has been certified as balanced by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, with an estimated $6.5 billion remaining unspent in the state’s Rainy Day Fund. Every budget Gov. Perry has signed has been balanced.
FALSE CLAIM: “Covering his deficits with record borrowing.”
TRUTH: Texas does not have a deficit. The state’s recent sale of Tax and Revenue Anticipation Notes (TRANs) is cash-flow management tool that dates back to 1987. These notes are sold every fiscal year to manage cash flow and to provide up-front payments to public schools. They are repaid within the fiscal year with tax revenue that comes in after the upfront school payments are made. Texas earned the highest possible ratings in anticipation of this offering, receiving a rating of SP-1+ by Standard & Poor’s, MIG 1 by Moody’s Investors Service and F1+ by Fitch Inc. Texas’ net interest rate of .27 percent is down from last year’s rate of .34 percent, representing the state’s lowest net rate ever for these notes.
Pretty good slapdown.
Michelle is a good lady, but a gaff-prone relatively new congresswoman will never (and should never) get the nomination, much less the presidency.

For those who aren’t aware, Ray Sullivan is the husband of Leslie Sullivan who works for the Romney campaign.
Romney maybe upset at Pherry for stealing the RINO mantle from him.
For those interested, this is a listing of TEF (Texas Enterprise Fund) recipents.

IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
She has NO CHANCE to get the nomination....NONE....nor should she. She’s only a Congressman.....that’s NOT enough nor was Obama’s ligttle Senatorship.
So??? If that is an attempt at guilt-by-association, it is the most pathetic effort I have seen in a long time.

I wonder how much Romney money is making its way into this PAC.
Yeah whatever. LOL

Misogynist RINOs in heat:

PerryBOT begins DIRTY TRICKS for RINO PERRY:
"Iowa Ruckus Exclusive:Palin Will Not Run for President(?)(Perry supporter Ken Crow)"
The Club for Growth slapped Michelle’s ad down as well.
I’m sorry I thought that I was looking at a mutual fund portfolio from the late 90’s the rate of return on your investments is staggering.
I’m glad that the state of Texas can help suffering multi-billion dollar companies like Bank of America and JP Morgan Chase get their small start ups going....
It is a false ad. Texas can not legally run a deficit like most other states.
Go ahead and independently verify. Can you disprove any of the statements posted? If so, please provide your sources.
Alert the crazies!....
Alert the crazies!....
Those are great numbers and facts at post #1
You're already here!
I have two things to say about this one.
1. Before Michele Bachmann can talk about state budgets, economic growth, and the administrative needs of a large growing state or organization, perhaps she might want some executive experience to understand them first,
and
2. If she is going to run such deceptive ads, perhaps she shouldn’t even be in a Republican race proclaiming conservative principles. While there is a difference in political conservatism and personal integrity, I would think a candidate who salivates for the position so much that he/she would downright LIE is not a good representative for our party.
Give it up, Michele Bachmann. That is no better than the Dems showing Paul Ryan shoving Grandma off the cliffs!
And... Go find another way to be Mitt Romney’s VP choice. We don’t want you smelling our party up for THAT.
I don’t understand some of the thought processes of people. Do they honestly think that being POTUS is a position where they can wing it with zero experience?
Carville and his wife operated in 2 different political parties.
Not a big deal.
Did you happen to see how many JOBS were created?

I just posted (see post #22) that I think Bachmann will do ANYTHING to be Mitt Romney’s VP choice.
And I’m so upset she has let her salivating for a VP position cause her such a loss of integrity that I’m changing my FR tag! LOL
She’s vulnerable — where is her record of accomplishment — executive results?
It seems obvious Palin, if all she can do is destroy Perry, like you and your guys are trying, she will get crushed.
I have been waiting to hear something good about your candidate as an executive. I guess she's just so "flippin cool" and "fights like a girl/mama grizzly" oh and "womans up" that she just deserves the nomination, oh wait is that the same as "it's her turn"?
Isn’t it flippin cool to have such an extensive record of success as an executive that you can just pick from millions of jobs and still just post innuendo? Flippin awesome, yeah!
Not only "patently and provably false", the adjectives "cheesy", "lame", "schlocky", "amateurish", "piddly", "hokey" work too.
normy, I’m not sure I would tie this in with Sarah Palin in any way. I’m not sure what crazies Tempest wants, but this does not show badly on Sarah Palin OR Rick Perry. This shows a deceptive campaign ad which has Michele Bachmann’s fingerprints all over it. Such disregard for truth shows very badly for Michele Bachmann and Michele Bachmann only.
She's not running for President; she's running for Vice-President. Romney's vice president, to be exact.
Bachmann hasn't laid a finger on Romney yet, nor will she. She can't make it to the White House alone, but neither can some other folks in the race. She's the conservative beard, waiting to apply herself to Romney's smooth, boyish chin.
They're both powerful but fatally flawed candidates on their own. Romney is an experienced former governor, but he lacks right wing street cred. He needs a tough, popular, conservative wingman. Bachmann is a tough, popular conservative but a political lightweight. She needs an experienced governor who lacks right wing street cred. Together, they could team up and win.
They have their jobs to do. Mittens will raise the cash, hide from the base, and look Presidential to the independents. Michelle will throw red meat to the base and keep them fired up, even if it hurts her among independents. Once it's time, they'll snap together like Legos. It really couldn't be more obvious.
Yep, that ad has caused me to demote Bachmann on my list of preferred candidates. Herman Cain moves up as a result.
LOL Steel Wolf!
Look at my post #22 of this thread! I said the same thing as you only, as usual, you said it better! :)
And after reading post 22, take a look at my tag. I did indeed change it!
I will take Micheel anyday. Three words: tough on immigration.
I haven’t seen her shining up to La Raza.
That said, I would just as soon make Victor Hanson the nominee and be done with it.
OMG! Thanks for posting the link to that ad.
It has got to be one of the worst ads for this level of government (well, ANY level of government office) I’ve ever seen!
Surely Mitt’s secret funds to her could have purchased a better public relations and advertising team!
Steel Wolf,
I’ve got a question for you and would like your insight.
Could Michele Bachmann pull out of the race at some point and still be on Mitt’s VP list or do you think she’ll need to stick it out longer than she could have otherwise?
Good point. That document shows that 54,954 direct jobs were created at a cost of $7,455.52 per job, or a total of 190,360 direct and indirect jobs were created, at a cost to the state of $2,308.98 per job. Considering that the federal government crows about creating a few hundred job that cost the taxpayers over $100k per job, it looks like Texas has the right idea. If Perry had $800 billion to spend on job creation like Obama did, by this calculation, he could have created 107,303,045 direct jobs.
Also, did you see the return on investment? The state was getting back from a LOW of 27x the investment up to over 100x the investment in increased Gross State Product. This has got to be one of the most effective economic stimulus programs in history!
Thanks, cripplecreek. I never realized how effect the TEF program was at job creation. I'll be sure to post this information every time someone brings the subject up.
I think orginally, some were thinking Bachman could be a good choice for VP but since the Iowa straw poll she has had numerous gaffes and is losing her star power rapidly. All the oxygen is almost gone from her campaign. I think she will continue to go downhill.
I think Victor Davis Hanson is a Democrat unless he’s changed parties and I’ve missed it.
If Mitt wins, he'll pick whoever he wants. They don't have to be currently serving or from any particular group, so long as they balance the ticket.
Mitt doesn't really need another governor, a moderate, a businessman, or someone who can raise cash. He's got all that himself. If he won the nomination, it would be by appealing to the center-right. All well and good, but there's plenty of people on the actual right who might sit it out, unless he has a strong conservative VP.
Anyone reading this probably thought about not voting for McCain until he picked Sarah Palin. That didn't win over everyone, but it changed a lot of minds. Mine included. Mitt knows he's in the exact same boat. He needs a partner who has 'it'. Popularity, to offset his blandness. A fighter, to offset his calm. A conservative, to offset his moderation.
If it's not Bachmann he chooses, he'll need someone exactly like her. The fact that she's behaving the way that she is makes me think that they've already come to an understanding.
It might not be, though. She may just be auditioning for the part, trying to show her use, in the event a Romney-like candidate got the top slot. Or it may just be a trial run for next time. No matter what, she's not going to be top of the ticket next year.
Yeah I see that it also claims jobs were created at HelioVolt but HelioVolt disagrees and says they won’t be creating the jobs. Seems to me that you’re playing Obama games with number (lying) just like Obama’s stimulus.
Why the lack of courage in noticing that?
Perry is just the better more proven candidate than "Sarah!"
You must have missed it.
