Mark Belling Conservative Radio Talk Host (Also Guest Host for Rush Limbaugh) on WISN Radio 1130 in Milwaukee exposes a Wisconsin union scam.

Teachers retired and started collecting pension and health benefits have been rehired again as teachers for this year in same school district.

This is double dipping and certainly is costing the taxpayers and also new teacher applicants that didn't get hired at a lower new teacher salary.

This is very common, and is more a school board scam than a union scam. Ultimately, the school boards do the hiring.

I think the advantage for the school district is that they don’t have to fund an additional health policy and retirement year.

How about the new legislation make them pay the double dipping salary back to the tax payers they ripped off?

Gotta be kickbacks to those making hiring decisions ” most managers are former union members and union supporters. They get all the extra benefits too. What they do not want to do is hire is new young people who might worry more about layoffs than squeezing every last cent from the taxpayers.

I don’t know how prevalent this is around the country, but NC used to allow the same thing.

You can imagine the cost of retaining a principal at the 35th year pay scale while he or she was getting retirement based on the average of the three highest paid years.

NC stopped this several years back.

Since when is double-dipping considered a scam? This has been going on for ages. I personally know several people who “retired” from their positions as teachers only to be rehired as “mentors” at a different school for the exact same salary. So they do even less work, plus pull in a full time salary and a pension. I also know a cop who retired from one town, then went to the next town and got hired as chief of police. So he’s getting his chief salary plus retirement pension.

RE: "Public school teachers ripping taxpayers off?? NOOO! That cant be true. They love their kids."
Actually I believe it would be perhaps a bit more accurate to say they follow the premises set forth in the Marxist doctrine initiated so many years back in Europe then spreading to the then un-raveling Czarist Russia with Lenin's careful ears... back in those fateful days shortly after the turn of the century. My last comments for this early morning. Do have a great upcoming day.

Exactly, and sometimes an additional stipend because they are not taking health insurance in their new job because they already have retiree health insurance.

But, it isn’t just teachers. My town (Mequon) rehired the Dir. of Public Works after retirement. And the Village of Grafton did the same with their Police Chief a few years ago.

This practice is rampant.

Ultimately, the school boards do the hiring.

Frequently the School Boards are made up of former teachers.

“Teachers College” and “Education Degree” are total scams and totally unneeded.

Generally, the bottom 25% SAT scores apply to “Teachers College”

How about hiring teachers with real degrees - math, science, etc...

We don’t need no steenkin’ Teacher college degrees!

...and then getting re-hired by cronies on the school board and getting a full salary at the old pay rate while “retired”..

He gets great pay, and retirement too. He’s one of the laziest sobs I’ve ever had to cover for!

Having worked for Govmint Utiliies, I would like to weigh in on this. Sometimes, it is very beneficial to use retired people to fill a spot because of their (hopefully) vast knowledge and long years of experience. If I were to craft a law to curtail this, it would be limited to re-hiring on a contract basis only with no benefits and limited to pay and time of contract, providing, clearly, that a new or existing hire could not be readily found. Your thoughts?

“I think it’s happening all over the country. “

It IS! And...it’s not just teachers who are doing this. I know of a principal who retired in Mississippi and went across the border into Tennessee to become a principle there. He is getting TONS of money.

WE need to change the laws, people. In many places this is legal.

Does this mean they get their retirement and a salary?

This needs to go hard viral. It's a prime example of unions run amok.

Cops do this nationwide.

The only difference is that many of them go out on fraudulent disability pensions and then get rehired at another department.

Look at the Kelly Thomas beating case in California.

One officer involved was let go with a life long tax paid medical disability pension from the LAPD after being shot and losing his eye, yet he has been working full time for the new department he was suspended from for 13 years.

In some states-——collecting a penion and bebefits AND a second govt salary with benefits means the govt greedster gets a nice buyout for the extraneous benefits.

Govt worker scams just never end———recall the Cali police chief who was cashing his govt salary AND collecting disability at the same time.

An elected state official was cashing state checks and state pension checks at the same time.

Another state elected offical double dipping at a govt job was also collecting a state pension check for the self-same job.

Once they get their hands in the till——like practiced crooks-——God only knows how many govt checks these people are cashing.

Not to mention clueung their families in on asst govt check scams.
