60% Say Palin Run Would Hurt the GOP
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 9/2/11 | Rasmussen

Posted on 09/02/2011 12:33:40 PM PDT by CA Conservative

A plurality (47%) of Likely U.S. Voters believe it is at least somewhat likely that Palin will enter the presidential race, but that includes only 13% who feel it’s Very Likely. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 35% think a Palin bid is unlikely, but just five percent (5%) say it’s Not At All Likely. Eighteen percent (18%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Only 18% of voters think it would be good for Republicans if Palin entered the race. Sixty percent (60%) say it would be bad for the party, while 11% predict it would have no impact. Twelve percent (12%) are not sure.

Even most Republicans (52%) believe it would be bad for the GOP if Palin threw her hat in the ring, a view shared by 74% of Democrats and 54% of voters not affiliated with either major party.

I can’t imagine the media rancor ratcheting up any more than it already is. Someone else out there telling the truth is much needed.

I tend to trust Rasmussen but this far out from the first GOP primary and with the left having 3 straight years of bashing, mocking and declaring Sarah Palin 'stupid', unqualified' and 'unelectable', I'm not shocked by these results. However, in politics, nothing remains static. Sarah Palin has evolved into an astute political campaigner with sharp instincts. Although the leftmedia tries to define any conservative opinion as 'extreme', Sarah Palin's worldview is actually mainstream and will resonate with millions of Americans, once she begins campaigning. Palin is fearless and doesn't court the approval of The New York Times. She is authentic, honest and sincere with the ability to cut through the media BS and present herself and her proposals to the American voter in a convincing manner. Finally, Sarah Palin has charisma and can easily appeal to the average voter. The dedicated leftists will howl and whine about Palin but in the end, she'll prevail and a year from now, these poll results will be long forgotten as Palin surges toward the presidency.

Why would it hurt the Republican party? The process is open to anyone who wishes to partake—even Ron Paul.

In general when someone isn’t running for office the numbers simply don’t move. Why should they?

Really though.... Why would she want to run for POTUS? She can make loads more money on speaking engagements, Fox News etc. Why go through all that heck running and then if elected go through all that nonsense.

I hope, however, that Sarah makes it clear to her supporters that the goal is to defeat Marxist Obama and not to tear the GOP apart.

No Palin, no peace.

The GOP can go to hell.

Those are her intentions and have been from the start.

I still say she has her real eye on the Senate and running for Jon Kyle's seat when he resigns in 2012. Why else would she move into Arizona right down the road from McNuts?

Oooh I'm shocked no one replied calling you a communist for not worshiping Sarah Palin.

I do think it is despicable that certain FReepers have stated they hope Obama wins if Sarah Palin doesn't run. If they are Christians they should read the Ten Commandments especially the one about worshiping false idols. But I'm sure they'd twist the words of Moses to state that back when he was around he supported Sarah Palin and knew only she could run otherwise a communist who is hell bent on destroying the country deserves to stay POTUS.

You don't understand. Sarah's negatives aren't through the roof, Rasmussen is in on the conspiracy to make Sarah look bad. So is everyone else.

Obama 50%, Palin 33% (Rasmussen - Aug, 2011)

41% of GOP primary voters and two thirds of all registered voters say there is no chance they would vote for Sarah Palin (Pew - Aug, 2011)

71% of Republicans and 66% of Tea Party supporters don't want Sarah Palin to run for president (Fox News - Sept, 2011)

Because she's a patriot? Because she sees that the country is in trouble and she doesn't believe any of the other candidates will fix our problems? The mistake people make is in assuming she is motivated by money.

When are people going to realize that this deal is not about money for Palin, but about pulling the country back from the precipice and restoring it to its constitutional foundations.

This is precisely why the libs, the GOP-E, the PDS'ers, and the MSM don't understand her---they find it inconceivable that a politician such as Sarah could care less about getting rich and famous.

It's all about the country, damn it!!!

IT IS A PRIMARY! How could Palin running “hurt” the GOP?
The biggest vote getter, gets the nomination.
The wording of polls can manipulated the outcome. The only poll that counts is the tallying of votes, all the rest is nonsense.
As far as Palin being “qualified”, none of he best friends are known terrorists!
Rass’ is just like the rest, pushing an agenda.

I do not believe the polls. Even if accurate Sarah getting in would draw a lot of heat and the venomous media would be all over her convincing Libs that she is not good for them.

So what?

Who cares what they think?

Does Sarah speak truth and represent most of FR persons values?

I think that she does.
