How the NYPD Gets Jihad Right
National Review Online ^ | Sept. 3, 2011 | Andrew McCarthy

Posted on 09/03/2011 12:33:06 PM PDT by La Enchiladita

‘Every conspiracy against Islam and scheming against Islam and the Muslims — its source is America.”

“Jihad is Jihad. There is no such thing as commerce, industry, and science in jihad. This is calling things other than by its [sic] own name. If Allah says, ‘Do jihad,’ it means do jihad with the sword, with the cannon, with the grenades, and with the missile. This is Jihad. Jihad against Allah’s enemies for Allah’s cause and his word.”

“Why do we fear the word ‘terrorist’? If the terrorist is the person who defends his right, so we are terrorists. . . . The Koran mentions the words ‘to strike terror,’ therefore we don’t fear to be described with ‘terrorism.’ . . . We are ordered to prepare whatever we can of power to terrorize the enemies of Islam.”

This rhetoric was not at all unusual. It was the sort of thing you’d hear on any given Friday at mosques in Brooklyn or Jersey City. Nor is there anything ostensibly criminal about it, at least according to the hash the Supreme Court has made of the First Amendment.

In the United States, the authorities regarded Abdel Rahman as a respected community leader. The federal government put out its welcome mat despite his appearance on its terrorist watch lists.

... It was Ray Kelly, one of the great police commissioners in American history, who finally arranged to place the blind sheikh in handcuffs. This was during the summer of 1993, when Kelly was in his first go-round as NYPD commissioner.

... Kelly is now in his second tour of duty as commish, and New Yorkers are extraordinarily fortunate that their streets have belonged to him for most of the decade since September 11, 2001, when nearly 3,000 of our fellow citizens were murdered. You mightn’t think so, however, if all you had to go on was the hatchet-job published by the Associated Press last week.

There is little comfort from the President when he says, on more than one occasion, that the nation can absorb another terrorist attack. When is enough enough?

"Every 'moderate' Muslim is a potential terrorist. The belief in Islam is like a tank of gasoline. It looks innocuous, until it meets the fire. For a 'moderate' Muslim to become a murderous jihadist, all it takes is a spark of faith."

If we get hit again, I wouldn’t want to be a mohammedan in this country, nor would I want to be Obama (or am I repeating myself?). The American public is tired of all the constant b.s. about islam, and muslims, etc. They either seek to assimilate and respect our laws, traditions and other religions, or deport them. All of them. It is a cancer waiting to mestastize (if it isn’t already.) Never in all my years have I seen the West (Europe, North America, Australia) invite the seeds of it’s own destruction. We kept out Nazis and Communists in the past; this group isn’t any better. In some cases they’re worse given they use religion as a cover for their true aims. Last time I checked though there are millions and millions of armed Americans who would gladly form militias for protection against any and all foreign enemies. It may come to that. And the majority of the U.S. military (those that are non-senior ranking, officer types who’d rather not play politics and remain loyal and patriotic warriors) would most likely support their fellow citizens. Wake up America, before it’s too late and your children and grandchildren are deprived of the freedoms so dearly fought for and preserved by previous generations goes down the drain.

That really is a suspicious locution .... I wonder if he is signalling that he intends, if we are struck again, to do nothing against his Moo bretheren, and instead tell us citizens to just shut up and take it, "we're bigger than that" and all that liberal b.s. we heard from certain people right after 9/11?

“The Blind Sheikh preached from his incendiary pulpit. His followers used their mosques to convene, to plot attacks, and to store and transfer weapons. They exploited Islamic community centers to recruit for the jihad and to advertise paramilitary training sessions. They found sympathizers in the community who would not join in forcible conduct but who were supportive — morally, and sometimes materially. They were able to carry out attacks that required months of planning because people who might have helped the police stop them were afraid to speak up.”

There’s a reason mosques are correctly referred to as barracks full of soldiers.
