President Obama arrives in New Jersey, visits Wayne and Paterson flood zones

President Obama has landed in New Jersey and is touring flood-ravaged Wayne and Paterson today to witness some of the devastation caused by Hurricane Irene.

Obama toured Wayne briefly before traveling by motorcade to Paterson before 2 p.m., where he will see some of the most flood-damaged streets in the state. After riding into Paterson past thousands of cheering residents lining Main Street, the president viewed the still closed Main Street bridge over the Passaic River.

"We are going to make sure we provide the resources needed," Obama said.

With piles of furniture and carpeting lining the street, residents described how high the water had come and how long they had been evacuated. Francisco Alarco of 175 Fayette said the water had gone over his front deck and into the House. After Obama posed for pictures and shook hands with his family, Alarco said he felt better about things.

"I am very happy," he said. "When I heard he was coming to Paterson I was hoping he'd come here and it happened.''

I used to go deer hunting with a guy from Jersey...he’d put the deer in the trunk and THEN shoot it.

Nashville, May 1, 2010 makes NJ look like a mud puddle. Where was Zero then?

Most of the water here has receded if not all of it. I live in between Wayne and Paterson. It was a hectic commute for the week but ultimately other areas in the country and world have seen much worse. Seems like a photo op for blue state support. From what I saw with the flooding down south they got it much worse. Paterson is also very Urban and probably was to appease the NAACP complaint about Obama only visiting “white” towns.

A concerned and compassionate President Obama consoles a
distraught woman in NJ, as fat-**s Chris Christie just stands there...

FWIW, Paterson has the second-highest Arab-American community (next to Dearborn, MI)

Is he parting the waters? This is a staged photo if I ever saw one. My God even the senile Lautenburg is in the frame. Speaking of which where is Chuckie Shumer?

No matter, Christie is filling in for him. A Tea Party Conservative would not be giving the Usurping Marxist the time of day.

I knew the President was coming. I briefly thought about going over to Paterson with a "Where's the REAL Birth Certificate" sign, but I knew better than to try.

So I was sitting here at my kitchen table, probably reading FR when Obama obviously flew low over my property. The approach to Runway 27 at Caldwell (Official name is Essex County Airport) goes over the woods in my backyard. Normally it's just an approach runway at my end so you can only barely hear the powered down light planes as they go by about 3-400 feet above touchdown and 100 feet or so over my trees. (I use to fly, so I've checked this out in the past.) Helicopters are much more annoying as they go by, but fortunately they are few in number. If I'm in my backyard listening to Rush, he gets drowned out when they go by. Sometimes they rattle my windows. Anyway I heard a helicopter noise like I've never heard before, and I guessed that it must have been the President's aircraft. It never occurred to me that he would land at Caldwell or fly over my backyard else I might have had more for him than a sign! It wasn't until sometime later that I confirmed via a news-report that he landed at Caldwell.

Later in the afternoon I decided to get in my car and swing past the airport. Across the street from the airport in one of the restaurant parking lots I saw a staging area for a bomb squad. (Who knew that Essex County has a bomb squad!) On the Airport grounds itself I saw a string of a dozen or so buses parked front to back which I assume was to shield the landing area from the street maybe 300 feet away. I just kept going and completed a big circle to get home. It sort of surprises me that there wasn't any obvious police presence on my street or wandering through the backyards here. Maybe I just missed them.

A heard an audio clip where a woman said “I love you” and he responded “I love you, too.” I love pistachio ice cream and warm sunny days.

BTW, I was one of those pooh-poohing the "hurricane" forecasts, but my cigar club took a pretty big hit. It had never had any water inside it before, but it's only been around for five years or so. The guy whose business is next door said he has been there for 25 years and this was the first time he had water inside. It came up to 17.5 inches above the floor. (At the club, all the carpeting is out and the bottom third of the sheet-rocking has already been removed. The furniture was saved by placing it on tables. Our dinner for next week has been canceled, but we will recover.)

Compared with the 3+ months of continuous flooding along the Missouri river that still covers a lot of acres the flooding there is little more than a puddle of spit. Many of the flood victims around here are being declared “non-eligible” for federal flood relief.

Grandstanding, vote buying political hacks.

The big O going to Vermont.

Way too white for fearless reader.

Doesn’t matter. They’ll vote for him again wether he shows up or not.

Well he had his vacation and his trip to Camp David which were much more important than the little people’s problems, after all he has a very stressful work schedule keeping track of all the lies he tells and planning parties and vacations.
