Michele Bachmann campaign manager Ed Rollins is stepping into an advisory role and deputy manager David Polyansky is leaving the campaign, Rollins said Monday.
Rollins, whos 68 and had a stroke a year and a half ago, cited health reasons for his decision.
"I just don't have the endurance to go 12 to 14 hours a day, seven days a week anymore," Rollins told CNN's Anderson Cooper on Monday.

Rollins said he still has great affection for Bachmann and pledged to give her counsel moving forward.
"At the end of the day, I'm not going away," Rollins said.....

"Legitimately, it's a Romney-Perry race," Rollins said. "I think she's the third candidate at this point in time, which is way different and better than we thought when we started this thing. She's very much in this thing."
Except that RealClearPolitics has former Governor Sarah Palin clearly in third place, even though she's not a declared candidate. Rep. Bachmann is further down in fourth place, pretty much tied with Rep. Ron Paul.
The reason he gives is laughable because he would not have taken the job in the first place if “age” was getting the better of him. This is a gracious way for the campaign to fold and let the “old wise man” be the fall guy. I think!
As much as I admire Bachmann, having scant executive experience and never have won even a statewide election, she has never had a real chance of becoming the nominee. My guess is that Rollins (who of course knows this too) extrapolated from the money flow and decided it wasn’t worth the effort.
And, the field may not be complete yet ;-)
Well, the circle is complete, Rollins leaves.
And, the field may not be complete yet ;-)
I think that is a safe bet.
If you don’t start with a fiercely loyal campaign manager, you are less likely to end with one.
Positioning to join Palin’s organisation - and she’ll still need a strategist who believes what she believes - if she declares?
This is turning out to be the most interesting election in years.
Sarah Palin’s “campaign” consists of a three day bus ride each month and some Facebook pronouncements from on high. She ain’t running though I would love to see her run the EPA or Dept. of Interior under President Rick Perry. Liberal heads will explode
Sarah= not running now or ever
Michelle Bachmann = is running
Big difference
Would Rollins have used the term “affection” if Bachmann had been a Michael instead of a Michelle?
You posted this article in breaking news just to say that Palin is in third place in a poll?
That’s great; Bachmann is doing way better than anyone thought and is a worthy candidate don’t you think?
She wouldn’t hire Ed Rollins to wash her dog.
I am really disappointed. I thought this Rollins leaving thing would be the end of the Bachmann bashing and RINO name calling. This news is already posted in front page news.
Can you expand on that please?
One of the things we never get info on here is the various campaign teams, until years later when they have become pundits and has beens.
I’m sure that she’s a fine congresswoman, although she’s never passed a bill of any kind, but president? Don’t we already have a neophyte legislator with no executive experience. And I didn’t post it in “Breaking News” to go on and on about the polls, I’m just correcting a statement made in the article that is not true. It is breaking news when the candidate who won the Ames Straw Poll not that long ago is now shedding her campaign staff like a parka in May.
It's Rick Perry's fault.
Mr. Rollins not only attacked Gov. Palin about the same time that he took the job with Rep. Bachmann, but attacked Rep. Bachmann earlier in the year. And now he claims the race is between Governors Romney and Perry, hurting a campaign that he still is involved with!! Would you put someone like that on your team?

I missed the attack he made on Palin.
Looking it up now. But no, based on what you have said, she wouldn’t have him.
Thank you!
And keep posting - your posts are always interesting, whether I agree with them or not!
***”At the end of the day, I’m not going away,” Rollins said.....***
Not only should he no longer draw a paycheck from the Bachman people, he ought to return the money he’s already been paid, since it was fraud from the beginning.
More and more folks just want a candidate that wants to be President and not one that seems to be making a game out of what her intentions are.
If she runs I don't think her ratings will be high in Florida. She would have been better declaring early, participating in the debates and being an official candidate in the Iowa Straw vote.
JMHO from a redneck from the Sate of Florida.
Another source:
“Minnesota Republican has known for days that Ed Rollins, her campaign manager, would be stepping down from that post. Rollins reportedly spoke with Bachmann last Thursday and discussed his growing concerns about his health.”

Michele deserves better. People are too quick to count her out and on some days I have done the same. She’s another born underdog and she didn’t get to be a national figure by losing.
Palin
Perry
Bachmann
“People are too quick to count her out ..”
So true. Bachmann is doing far better than McCain was four years ago.
I don’t know what’s wrong with some people’s memories.
I think Ed knew Abraham Lincoln.
Sarah to Ed: “You’re no Lee Atwater. Let’s call it even.”
The best thing that ever happened to Michele Bachmann was when the NRCC cut off her funding and she became a heroine to conservatives. Steve King of Iowa is just as conservative, has served longer and has held leadership positions - yet he isn't as well known as Michele.
Oh thats good.
Let’s consider your opinion and the facts as is:
Pawlenty was the first so called major candidate in the race. Pawlenty was praised for having the best organization team in place. Pawlenty was already in Iowa as far back as 2009. Pawlenty chided Palin for waiting too long in getting in the race. Pawlenty is the first so called major candidate to get out of the race.
Bachmann got in the race in June. Bachmann was praised as the Tea Part queen. Bachmann considered as the only “room for only one female Republican candidate as in not Palin”. Bachmann wins Straw Polls. Bachmann leads the polls. Bachmann loses money when Perry enters. Bachmann loses steam as two campaign managers leave. Bachmann may end campaign?
Palin waits. Palin waits. Palin gives a major speech that changes the debate late in the game which focuses on the two guys leading the polls. Palin enters?
Good nights
Smartest thing she’s done. I just hope he hasn’t damaged her too much.
Now, he’ll get the book deal he was always after and he’ll trash Bachmann and her husband from here to eternity while hoping to make a mint.
We told you it was a bad move, Michele.
Yep. They're running out of money.
I'm not sure Perry will stay the course. Obviously if he doesn't, a vacuum will reemerge and Palin will have her opportunity.
Wow, poor folks in SW Florida. How concerning.
She shouldn’t stop at getting rid of Rollins. She should get rid of whoever advised her to hire Rollins, too.
She shouldn’t stop at getting rid of Rollins. She should get rid of whoever advised her to hire Rollins, too.
My candidate is Governor Palin. But I can’t help feel bad for Michele Bachmann as her campaign appears drawing to a close.
I don’t know where campaign managers rank in the list of the most hated occupations, but Ed Rollins would deserve a highlight photo. What a cut-throat, despicable human being.
Early on Monday, Rollins comes out with a statement that he has changed his role with the Bachmann campaign to accomodate his ailing health due to age.
Then he goes on CNN to announce that it is a two-person race between Romney and Perry. Where is loyalty amongst these people? Why cut Michele Bachmann off at the knees even as she realizes her chances have largely disappeared?
I now have a greater appreciation of why Governor Palin had so much difficulty with the goons in the McCain Campaign.
God must have a special place in Hell for these disrespectful people.
just shows that support that is bought and paid for is still for sale.
>>> Except that RealClearPolitics has former Governor Sarah Palin clearly in third place, even though she’s not a declared candidate. Rep. Bachmann is further down in fourth place, pretty much tied with Rep. Ron Paul.
Palin is also pretty much tied with Bachmann and Paul.
Perry 26.3
Romney 16.5
Palin 10.6
Bachmann 8.8
Paul 8.0
That's the scuttlebutt. Evaporated after Iowa when Perry entered and stole her steam.
Sarah Palin has a dog?
Does the dog have a license?
Ever have worms? Fleas? Ticks?
Can the dog sit, stay and heel?
Is there still time to file a complaint against the former Governor of Alaska for her abuses in this area?
These are very important issues. Perhaps the Press has to do an in-depth investigation of Palin’s “Canine-Gate scandal?” George Stephanopolis will be leading the investigation.
If Bachmann were to bow out of the race, would she be more likely to throw her support to Palin or Perry? I’ve read about the affinity between Perry and Bachmann and she must believe she has a better chance of being VP nominee with Perry than she would in a potential all women ticket with Palin. My betting is that she bows out after a disappointiing fourth place in Iowa and throws her support to Perry.
Fine by me.
Rollins is a D ick, a Jackwagon and all around delusional, self absorbed loon, who has never delivered bottom line results.
I Love them
I personally believe that Rollins told Michele up front that Sarah was the elephant in the room, and that they had to go after her, and she agreed.
This is JMHO, I have no proof that this is the way it happened, but it fits with other things that MB camp has done.
2ndDivisionVet has it right on as usual!
Sarah Palin is no Ronald Reagan. At this juncture she has neither the breadth of experience nor the depth of reading and understanding that Reagan had. She has the same native charisma that Reagan had and in time she could become as formidable a leader as Reagan was - on her own terms, not merely as a copycat - but she’s got a lot more toiling in the fields to do before she can reach that point.
[I’m not sure Perry will stay the course.]
What makes you say that?
The issue is:
“Do the represent our Ideal?”
That is all I care about.
I was asked by a very high Dem donor what my problem was with a woman as president, in 2008.
To which I replied:
Couldn’t care less about gender but, that’s your issue.
However, you give me a Golda Mier, Jane Kirkpatrick or a Margaret Thatcher and that woman has not only my vote, but I will absolutely drain my bank accounts to support them.
