Former US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates blasted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that his policies were ungrateful towards the US and were isolating Israel on a global level.
Gates harsh words were said during a meeting of the National Security Council Principals Committee, Bloombergs Jeffrey Goldber reported Tuesday.
Gates believes Netanyahus government has offered the Obama administration nothing in return for its generous security aid, which includes access to top-quality weapons, assistance in developing missile-defense systems and high-level intelligence sharing.
The former defense secretary said that not only is Netanyahu ungrateful, but his polices were endangering his country by refusing to grapple with Israels growing isolation and with the demographic challenges it faces if it keeps control of the West Bank.
Bloomberg added that Gatess analysis met with no resistance from other committee members.

Israel isn’t isolated (it can forge ties with Kurdistan, Armenia, Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Georgia, and Bulgaria,
as counter-weights to Turkey).
And if it is isolated, perhaps there are times when isolation is preferable to ignominy (as when Switzerland was completely isolated by Hitler’s Reich and his allies, the lone country in continental Europe, aside from Portugal and Sweden, not involved with—and allied to—Hitler).
Err..Who are the grateful allies?
“Netanyahus government has offered the Obama administration nothing in return for its generous security aid”
What has any nation ever offered us in return for our “generous aid”?
Maybe Gates is looking to run as VP with Ron Paul in a 3rd party candidacy.
Nazi Gates: “Darn, the jews again, they won’t go for my pyramid scheme”
Israel should be grateful for being told to go back to its 1967 borders?
Gee, Gates, I’m glad you aren’t at Defense anymore. Who knows what other screwed up views you have.
Netanyahu spoke the truth to power and embarassed your butt boy Obama. Maybe you should call Jimmy Hoffa, Jr. and report him.
I wonder if "American Idol" is on tonight?
It would be so much easier if those troublesome Jews would just kill themselves wouldn’t it Gates? At least we know where you stand and can evaluate you and your actions better.
Just maybe Netanyahu’s attitude stems from the tacky disrespectful way he was treated by 0 at the White House??????
No foreign leader (UK, Germany, Russia, France etc) respects the American President except maybe the muslim countries.
Always knew I never liked the son of a gun
Starting with Bush 41 and since, we haven’t exactly been friendly with Israel.

They would be a good deal more grateful if Obama would act like and ally.
Any man, whether appointed by W in some capacity or not, and held on with the approval of the Obama administration is a traitor to this country as far as I am concerned.
For one thing, a competent, commited military force that serves as a deterrent to our enemies in the region and a staunch ally in the war on terrorism.
That is probably more than we are doing for them right now.
I’ve hated Gates since he made a decision on drones, and then publicly condemned the USAF for obeying his command.
I wonder what Gates had on the Bushies, a live boy or dead horse?
Behind the scenes: Obama snubs Netanyahu
Sources privy to political atmosphere prior to US president’s Mideast policy speech say tension between White House, Jerusalem hit new high
The cold relationship between US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seems to have noted a new drop in temperature following Obama’s Mideast policy speech, and according to the New York Times, tensions between Washington and Jerusalem are at an all-time high.
Obama has reportedly told close aides and allies that he does not believe Netanyahu will ever be willing to make the kind of big concessions that will lead to a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians.
