After all, your situation has nothing to do with his understanding.
Agreed. He should participate remotely so he can have a physical presence in the state to show solidarity with those suffering during this disaster.
Palin’s not using anybody. She’s being smart about not entering too soon given that the media will focus on attacking her from the hour she announces.
...”his understanding.”???
When did you shift the focus of your argument from me to
Rick Perry? Hmm?? I went back to your post 68 amd I’m seeing that you have been addressing me and my take on this matter. Not Perry’s.
Stay focused, OK? Thanks.
5500 square miles in Texas have burned and they are in Austin and are approaching Houston. He will do what he feels needs to be done.
Sarah is a Fox News commentator. Back in March, Fox fired Newt and Rick Santorum as commentators because of their intent to run for president due to conflict of interest concerns. At the time, Fox did not terminate Sarah's contract because at the time, Fox determined she had not taken any action that indicated her intent to run for President.
Back in June, the executives at Fox News met with Sarah during her bus tour. Apparently, Sarah reassured them that she was not running for president, because they did not terminate her Fox contract.
Now, if Sarah is campaigning for president, as many of her supporters openly agree, or if even if she has decided she will run, isn't she being unethical by not notifying Fox News? Isn't she getting money from Fox News under false pretenses as well as giving herself the ability to continue to appear on Fox News as a commentator when other presidential candidates cannot? What does that say about her honesty and principles?
If Sarah is not running for president, then there is no ethical problem. But if she has reassured Fox News that she is not running for president but does not tell her supporters, what does that say about her?
Well, I haven’t seen anything official, but the latest posts here indicate that he is going, which is what he should have done all along. And Texas has been dealing with wildfires for months and I’m sure they have personnel in place to do whatever can be done and the the governor can be in constant communication with those in charge.
But it is amazing the lengths to which some boosters of candidates will go to justify any and everything their candidates does or doesn’t do, says or doesn’t say, did or didn’t do, will or won’t do. Such doesn’t really contribute any informative or worthwhile discussion on the election. Too many are in campaign mode around here.
Some times that just deserves to be tweaked.
I respect this decision.
Yep! He’s doing what he should in this crisis....and I’m not a Perry backer either, but more than willing to give the man credit for having his priorty in place.
Some of his backers here thought he should stay focused on the race....but he’s doing the right thing.
What a silly name caller you are. And if you think I support Ron Paul, then you are one of the least perceptive folks anywhere around.
I’m a Palin backer.
That said, Perry has more to lose doing the debate than not. There are plenty of debates and people will forget by the next one.
I doubt people would forget him debating while fires are burning, and he’s far more vulnerable to opposition sniping if they can tar him with that image.
Better odds to skip the debate.
Thank you SS!
I just heard on Fox News, over a thousand homes burned and one hundred thousand acres burned so far. All over the world people are living through [or dying] in horrible disasters.
It saddens me to see the fighting on our forum, when we should be pulling together to defeat the ‘Won’ who is destroying our country.
My disinterest in Perry does not stem from this incident, I actually agree with it, but right now I’m hoping for Herman Cain. I don’t respond to FR trash talk, but I’m interested to see which cabal bashes my post. The Perrybots or the Sarabots? Perhaps the Bacmanites?
Some of the candidate rhetoric of late of FR reminds me of why the GOP is always limping from the self inflicted gunshot wound..
Remember the Rudibots?
No, Fox had clear criteria for when they would cancel a prospective candidate’s contract (e.g., having filed an exploratory committee) and Palin hasn’t met them.
I presume she confirmed with them when she would have to resign or be suspended, and she hasn’t met that yet. Fox still gets great ratings from her and there’s no reason for them to want her to quit before she has to.
I have no question that she’s preparing to run, but up until the time she does she’s still open to new information (e.g., a dire cancer diagnosis) that would keep her from running.
Meanwhile I expect this could well be her last week with them. Maybe she’ll comment after tomorrow’s debate, but I doubt we’ll see her appear much more before she declares.
Thank you.
So many stupid comments on this thread. As a very frightened Texan, I sincerely appreciate what you said.
Perry will be fine in the debate. He’s experienced. He wins/loses whatever he chooses to do. I don’t like him, but I’ll vote for him.
I don’t care.
I just want rain.
Amen and amen.
Your all wet Jmouse....and more than likely he’ll make it up in some other way. Someone already stated they may have a make up debate for him. He’s doing the right thing here. No one should question that.
Doing what?
Amen to that! Thank you.
I thought I heard thunder during the night and jumped out of bed......must have been dreaming......
