LA Times: Speech comes amid rising doubts about Obama's leadership

A speech to a joint session of Congress is one of the prized "leadership moments" that only the president is afforded in American politics. And on Thursday, it's one Barack Obama is availing himself of at a critical juncture -- and with good reason, a new poll finds.

Resurgent Republic, a conservative non-profit group, released results of national survey that found six-in-10 Americans believe Obama to be a weaker president than they expected him to be, while fewer than a third say he's been stronger than expected.

"It's not just the bad economy that is weighing on the president's numbers. The doubts go to the heart of his leadership," pollster Whit Ayres told reporters.

"He has got to come out with something new and something different, and something other than blaming Republicans, for this thing to work for him," Ayres added.

BHO’s biggest problem is that except for his hardcore supporters, most people are tuning him out and aren’t interested in listening to him anymore. I suspect most will be watching the NFL game tommorrow night.

People are tired of talk now and will only pay attention to performance.

Sheesh, there are still those that think that Bambi has displayed any leadership at all?

Calling all setbacks “Bush’ fault” is leadership?

I have never had ANY doubts about Zero’s LACK of leadership, honesty, ability to learn about real economics, integrity, interest in reducing the financial debt to his own children - - - . Darn, ! Got that cramp in my typing hand again!

I bet he does the tired old gag half way through his speech of taking off his jacket, rolling up his sleeves, and claiming he is “rolling up my sleeves. Getting to work.”

He does this is every town hall meeting he has. He is predictably boring.

Not to worry, the SRM plus a few RINOs will be falling over themselves after the speech to hail his renewed vigor and leadership.

What leadership? Obama plays the victim too often to ever be a leader. Leaders don’t spend their whole time pointing their fingers at everyone else.

All the LA Times would have to do is release the video of Bammy praising the terrorists at that dinner a few years ago to show his “leadership”. Otherwise, they should shut up. They could have reported the news and stopped all this before it happened.

Obama's legacy:

Just words. Just speeches.

Leadership is driving solutions to issues to fulfillment, NOT seeking out greivances which can be exploited to the benefit of one group versus another (a la community organizing).

LOL! Don’t think this speech is going to do much if the above is required.

"while fewer than a third say he's been stronger than expected."

I guess I'm in that third.

He has blown me away with his strength and leadership, compared to my expectations.

B.O. (and boy, do I mean B.O.), is leading just fine.
He has good leadership skills. The problem is not his leadership, it is his ideology.
You leftist pri**s are not going to be able to salvage your bankrupt party by claiming that you are lacking strong leadership. ITS NOT THE LEADERSHIP. ITS WHAT THE LEADER IS LEADING. THE IDEOLOGY IS DESTRUCTIVE. PURPOSEFULLY.

This speech will be the life or death of Obama. If he fails or isn’t seen as a leader—his presidency is OVER—so OVER. The Dems will have no choice but to unseat him.
